Hailsham,

First of all don't write your messages in CAPS....

Regarding the Fighter, it will be on the market in may, not before.

Base on what I heard from Carsten , Fighter is the short pip not long pip.

Maybe some misunderstanding by ITTF.

Pimple Lover,

Fighter will be a long pips rubber designed for blocking at the table. I am exchanging emails with Carsten on a regular basis (I even sent him one sample of my L1 so they can try it) and he confirmed that they will launch a new LPs. Don't forget that their success is based at 99% on long pips (frictionless or not) and that Short pips represent a small part of their sales. Anti are what they are, a very specific equipment that requires a lot of investment to be mastered so they want to get back to the basics, offering a slow rubber, allowing to block short. Carsten told me that Fighter will offer disturbing effect for a close to the table play.

If it is listed as "out" on the LARC, that doesn't mean that it is a short pips rubber. Indeed, Hallmark's Super Defence was also listed as OUT on the previous lists but it was a long pips rubber.

I should be receiving a trial sample before the rubber gets on the market; as soon as I have tried it, I will post here.

Cheers,
Ma'man

Neubauer's Fighter will be available in June at the price of 29.90€. Contra.de is already promoting this rubber on their website : http://www.contra.de/product_info.php/i ... ghter.html

The rubber will be avaibable in 2 versions :
Ox : a rather fast long pips allowing aggressive blocks and attacks
1.2 mm : an ''absorbing'' sponge made for more control and a more passive game

Carsten Neubauer also told me that there will be a little spin reversal when blocking (but the incoming ball needs to have a lot of spin). Both versions will offer a good disturbing effect, especially when blocking with a ball that does not bounce a lot (like Grass D Tecs)

I will receive 2 samples of the rubber prior to launching and will post my comments after testing.

Cheers
Ma'man

Sounds great Marathon Man!

It will be most interesting to see what unique properties these offer, as there are so many LPs on the market already...

I'm more of a blocker vs topspin and attack underspin player rather than chopper, so I'm definelty interested in your comments on this one.

For those who don't read German, here is a translation of the description offered by contra.de:

Quote:
Dr. Neubauer Rubber "Fighter" is a new technological step ahead in the world of long pips with friction. The innovative rubber-mixture makes for extremely good control both in play close to the table and in the defense [away from the table]. On top of that, "Fighter" offers very good possibilities for attack by means of aggressive pushing and lifting. This new formula allows disruptive passive blocking, aggressive pressing, and dangerous chop-blocking close to the table. Furthermore, spin-variation is possible in the defense [away from the table]. Speed:60. Control:89. Spin:75.

I don't know what the values mean, but as comparison here they are as given by the same site for dr.N's Boomerang Classic: speed 50, control 91, spin 68; for Monster Classic: speed 75, control 85, spin 65; and for Anti Special: speed 65, control 85, spin 30.
Looking at description and values, I'd say the Fighter will be a middle way between the defensive Boomerang and the offensive Monster, with the ability to produce some spin on its own. Maybe a bit like Hallmarks Frustration?

Thanks for the translation Kees but I think the values are a marketing tool and divorced from reality. I tried Boomerang Classic which has a speed rating equal to the old Super Block and of course there was no comparison.

I think we should close this thread as there is another one about Fighter which is 3 pages long already. That would avoid splitting the info between 2 threads.
