I got bored and lost some interest playing with double inverted for many many years. I tried LPs and enjoyed it so much I made the change permanent. It does offer more options and strategy, which is so much more fun.

I used to use LP (with thick sponge) for blocking, flicking and flat-hitting. I enjoyed it and had reasonable success but at the end of the day the good loopers like it too much and just pin you down. Hence i gave it up after using it for about 2 years.

I played TT at April 2009 at the age of 49. Used inverted rubber both side. As a new player I cannot return back the serve and though I start the game at 9-0.. I still lost...felt like to throw away and give up the TT games.. :D :D

Then Faizal Maluri teach me how to use LP at the middle of 2010. And I start winning the game. The latest... I only lost to my X State player 2-3.

There is a lot of fun in TT now. And I just ordered Spinlord Dornenglanz red OX from OAK. Hope it can give me more fun.

A hand injury that made using regular rubber to difficult as well as a shoulder injury from a car accident. A lighter set-up really helped. I was a former Anti Player and also used Med pips ( 563 ) with alot of success. Started using lighter Tensors and that helped but after trying 755 to lighten the load and found the tactics involved as well as the lighter set-up...I was hooked. I miss using ANti and have tried it from time to time, but also enjoy using LP. Alot of players are BH attackers or Fh looper attackers or double wing loopers. When I got back into playing in 1995 I found everyone using speed glue, I found that LP helped in some respect to equalize that extra spin and speed. Besides its just FUN. :Chop: :Chop: :Chop:
Peace GIG

I play in a wheelchair, I'm a Class 3 player. We have very limited shoulder rotation due to complete paralysis of the abdominal muscles. As a result the forehand shot with inverted is not optimal without moving the wheelchair, and that again causes balance problems for me. So I use LP's on my FH and I attack with them or use them to setup my inverted BH. Since we play right at the table the game is really fast and the LP's bring in a great change in dynamics.

For all the derogatory remarks you get of course!

No, really, its an entirely different skillset to master than playing dual-inverted and it really is an enjoyable challenge. Nothing more fulfilling and satisfying than playing a perfect angle shot short across the net that your opponent can't reach, especially in doubles. I love a block that bullets back off the pips and your opponent stares at you in disbelief that you could return their smash that way. Of course good fast blocks off the inverted are also satisfying, but when you play LP combo you get twice the enjoyment!

To elaborate, for me LPs are more fun because they allow one to play slower and longer tactical points that are built by redirecting the force of the opponent's attack rather than opposing it head-on. Today's frenzied "topspin first at all costs" double inverted game with its excessive speed and spin that usually results in short points ending with unforced errors or mishits really leaves something to be desired.

I find LPs more challenging because there aren't a lot of teachers or instructional material. You more or less have to forge your own individualized style, which makes your game unique to you. There's something personally satisfying about playing a style that many opponents don't fully comprehend.

I really enjoy chopping, and while one can chop with anything, imo LP are the best option if you want to chop.

Edit-speaking of BH play, btw.

1. Coz I can't return serves.
2. It's cheaper. A sheet lasts a year!!!
3. A bit lazy to move.

I only use legal LPs. I say NO to banned LPs and the 50/50 ones.
