Just got this baby in. 8) 8) 8)

RE-Impact Tachi is supposed to be the best blade for D.Tecs. It weighs an amazing 52 grams. The backhand side has a thick balsa layer directly under the hard outer ply. The forehand side has at least four plies. Can't wait to try it.

Beautiful blade, how thick is the balsa core?

what's it designed to do? Blocking or chopping?
I'm afraid this blade will warp soon.

Overall, it's 9mm thick, so I'd estimate the balsa layer is between 6-7mm.

All I'm going to do is block with it. Some players report that it's also good for "long defense," but to my mind it's primarily a blocking blade. I sure hope it doesn't warp.

Is that an oversized blade? I wonder what the size of it is compared to a Barricade? I know that the Barricade is only 6.5mm thick, but I'm wondering if the face is bigger.

I recently ordered a TSP Versal chinese penhold from iruiru which I am told weighs in at only 57g. I thought that was light but boy, this blade is even lighter. Nice looking piece of blade too  Do give a review on how it handles the Dtec please :)

Mynamenotbob,

t's the Taipan which is supposed to be the best blade for the Dtecs, not the Taichi.

Sounds great... I'll probably like that too! What is the speed supposed to be?

A bit smaller than the Barricade.

Tachi is 157mm wide/152mm high compared to 163mm wide/167mm high for Barricade. Rendler also makes a 162x162 and a 162x168 version.

So far, I stuck on a red D.Tecs (no rubber on the forehand) and hit a few balls with the robot. Terrific against topspin. Great spin-reversal, and just as important, a tremendous braking effect.

Against no-spin, I need to practice more. I might need to switch to black D.Tecs for a bit more control on "kicking." I hope not, because I can already tell that red D.Tecs is deadly on this blade.

That's what they said when the Taipan came out. I never really liked the Taipan that much. This blade is MUCH better.

The forehand is supposed to be pretty fast. I haven't glued a forehand rubber yet. The backhand is fast too, but with a great braking effect. This gives max spin reversal with D.tecs and keeps the ball on the table. The backhand will likely slow down when I add a forehand rubber.

What's its BH side outer ply wood?

Not sure what kind of wood it is. It's relatively hard. The ball comes off hot with a lot of spin reversal, then dramatically slows down and falls onto the other side of the table. Very controlled. I've tried the D.Tecs on a lot of blades. This is by far the best.

Now I need to figure out what to do with the forehand, which seems quite fast to me (bearing in mind that I'm used to slow blades). I tried a Tibhar Super Defense 40 (1.3), but didn't like it at all.

What site did you order it from? I'm only getting German sites when I do a search for it and my ability to understand German is lacking. I'd hate to get my German friend to come over just to translate a blade order for me xD.
