I just tried the TSP Curl PH yesterday to see if its stiff pimples would now help chopping with the poly ball. I switched back and forth to compare it with the PR-1. I practice with a 2500 rating Partner and he said that the PR-1 is still more disturbing by far.

The fun side of it is that this little switch helped me to understand more on the springy part of the PR-1. My attack with the PR-1 against push or chop has never been so accurate and difficult to return. It tend to fly fast floating and skidding off the table. Very difficult to return. !

Hi Martin, did you try to just let the robot shoot top spin to the return board in order to compare c-ball with p-ball? I guess the origin spin from the robot is higher with c-ball...

hey maddrag

I'm not really happy with the division in short, medium and long pips. So I tried another division:

1 = aspect ratio 0.45 - 0.50
2 = aspect ratio 0.51 - 0.74
3 = aspect ratio 0.75 - 0.99
4 = aspect ratio 1.00 - max

1 = short
2 = medium short
3 = medium long
4 = long

Hi, Martin. Are you also planning to test the older version of the Palio CK531A -- the one in the yellow package -- which most people like more?

Hi martin,

In the last test with dr neubauer killer you put 8 for the grip. In the video it says 10. Also it is the lowest grip of all tested so far. Giant dragon 8228 A was having 12. What is the grip of DR Neubauer ?

The grip of the Killer is very low. I think with sponge it's 10 and in ox it's 8 ;)

Hi Martin,

Interesting fact:

So far, the best of the rubber in all the different category:

- ratio between 55 to 68 ( category medium short pips)
- has very low grip. ( Under 20)
- very hard pimples all above 94 ( highest is 98). (probably to compensate for the bigger and heavier poly ball.)

The exception : the hellfire OX lonfg pips with low grip and a soft pimple at 62 with a ratio of 1.09. Of course it is made for disturbance. The blade become more important to hit and loop as you hit it with a more open blade to contact more the blade. The reason why a more smooth blade for a better contact and more control.

Tell me martin, are these medium short pips ( gd 8228A, gd 612, DF 820a, Palio wp1013) very insensitive to the opponant spin as they have low grip ?

Hey maddrag

I started my tests with pips-out rubbers who has less grip. I will continue the series, where the grip is always slightly higher. This medium long pips are very insensitive in terms of incoming rotation and play very well balanced.
