I remember this topic came up a few times before, but I can't find any good answer on the most effective way of attacking slow spinny loops.

With a grippy long pimple you CAN block it fairly fast, but the timing is quite critical. If you try to block it slow, it can really grip in the rubber. Chopping it can be hard since it tends to drop so fast...

I'd very very interested to hear some suggestions.

depending on the thickness of your LP the best option is to flat hit it.

if youve got 0.5-1mm, take a step in and hit the ball flat through with the correct angle. To me thats the best option, the second one is to chop block with a emphasis on heavy spin reversal.

For frictionless, wouldnt have a clue

Fair enough... that may well be the best option, but the timing is not that easy... perhaps I need more practice against it!

Chop blocking those is probably even harder... I haven't had much success doing this against these shots.

I agree with lawOG guy, if you can a hit goes well against this shot. But only if you being super agressive and feel perky on that day. I am working on the long no spin push return trying to look like chop. If you watched the Joo vs Karrenga match then you can see Joo do the no spin return very well and he got lots of points with It. If you keep chopping hard the loopers start to loop one or two then push a no spin at you ( which is hard for Lp to get back without it getting killed ) so you must step in with you normally non leading leg towards the short spinny ball and use a long shallow arch to return the ball, I have seen my coach ( a female ) counter the very spiny males top players with this shot

So when you chop this ball, do you take it early or let it drop right down? By shallow do you mean close to vertical stroke?

Take the ball late and yes shallow arch, start at shoulder height and finish above the waist. It a push through more than a downwards chop.
