was gonna take the plunge last weekend to find the red had gone in places that I trust,having good results with the 388d apart from it being not the best attack lp and maybe octupus can give me that as well....could be a long wait for this now :headbang:

"was gonna take the plunge last weekend to find the red had gone in places that I trust"

I didn't understand that statement?

I tried 388D a couple months ago and it worked well with exception that my attack shots no longer were hard and fast and didn't seem to land often. Given that hard fast pips attacks surprise my opponents and win me a lot of points, I had to take the 388D off.

Still no sheet of Octopus here..............

I think he means haifu octopus red was sold out at the places where he usually buys.

LOL, I'm dense sometimes....

Could you tell us please how the thick sheet plays vs the thin one? As long as its durable enough, how they play is much more important, IMO

Hi,
@Old-Man-Southpaw

after quite some time attempting to find out the right sheet adapting my own playing style (a little bit tricky, fast but not too fast for attacking as well as abrupt breaking the pace) there remained two rubbers with nearly identical features:
(1) 61 second artist OX
(2) haifu octopus OX
They both have the ability to attack reliable from close to middle range away from the table. The only difference as far as I can see refers to pace. Octopus (particularly advantageous attacking defenders) seems to be a little bit at a faster pace than Artist (mainly favorable to fight against attackers playing high loops or hard counters), both are excellent regarding safety.

I just opened my latest Haifu Octopus OX red as purchased from Eacheng and its formulation has changed completely from my previous order. The earlier one was opaque rubber and very pliable with soft pips. The later one was translucent rubber with very stiff pips. Both sport the modern ITTF rectangle registration emblem showing 90-009.

Needless to say, the older one was much better and the new one is nothing special. Sigh..

Any updates? Was eyeing a sheet for a particular purpose.. :lol: A little expensive for a Chinese sheet, though.

No, I mean... are current sheets like the ones Nathanso describes above? Or have they reverted back to the way they were supposed to be? :lol: That post was from three years ago.

We don't hear much about Haifu anymore these days... I would guess they've thrown it the towel, and only make rubbers for other brands now.
