A young German, Rowen Filus, made it into the quarter-finals of the European Championchips last week. Chopper-attacker: LP backhand, red, but that's all I know. He lost to a Russian attacker, but did well. BTW, Gionis lost to Boll a round before.

That is a fast answer, Benny. Makes me curious as to how you know this. What's your source?

A friend who asked him in Stuttgart (he didn't ask for the thickness).

Earlier (before the glue ban) he used BTY Jonyer Hinoki with glued up Bryce (and also FL3).

After the glue ban (in the beginning) he used Bryce Speed (and maybe Curl?) during a tournament near Darmstadt (the city i live in).

It is Ruwen Filus, not Rowen; my mistake. I just watched the match again (recorded it) and saw Filus do a "druckschupf" a couple of times; I don't know the English term or even the Dutch, but as far as I know it is German for the kind of push/lift with LP which reverses backspin to topspin, and  his opponent (Fedor Kuzmin) missed the return, looping long. I haven't seen that in a long time and actually it's not a very obvious stroke for an LP as tremendously grippy as Feint Long III; either he's very very good with his Feint Long III, or he is using it in OX or 0.5 mm - or maybe both :D . I heard Filus has been around in the Bundesliga for a couple of years already, even though he's young. It seems he's been gradually making his way up. Nice. Perhaps the glue-ban will actually result in the come-back of technical and tactical players in this sport. Like Maze beating Boll twice in unbelievable style in the same tournament. Lovely...

Druckschupf - i would say - a fast push with the pips...

With frictionöless long pipels it was a very good weapon - it still is with faster pips.

Ruwen uses the FL3 on a thick sponge (1,1 or 1,3) - this rubber is one of the few long pips that can produce some backspin even on pushes. I think you can also chenage the spin on this pushes!!! (i have one of these on one of my backups blades - i think i will try this).

I think Kuzmin just miscalculatet it...

Thanks, Martinspin! It would fit the more aggressive style she's playing these days, more often than she used to attacking with forehand and backhand (twiddling to her inverted rubber most of the time for that). But I am curious which thickness she has the Tenergy in. Can't be much, judging from the (lack of real) speed in her attacks. Maybe 1.5 or at the most 1.7 mm?

(i asked thomas keinath (sting+express one+express one) who play with him at la vaillante angers)
i don't know about the blade because i am more interested in rubbers (http://bosscollection.skyrock.com)

i have also a question:

who are the best ox lp players?

Mens game. Nobody at the top level or even the second level. Akestrom has thin sponge.

Women - Haruna Fukuoka at around top 20 level, Ni Xia Lian, Chen Qing, down to Lay Jian Fay(sp??) just outside the top 100 I think. Neha Aggarwal somewhere around that top 100 level. I dont feel like looking these up. All use grippy ox pips aggressively; mixing reversal shots with outright hitting.
