I think so ,..... black tends to be worse ,... In fact,in the online shops the red rubber is the one out of stock,.however , the black one rarely is !!!

Also, Spinlord admits the black rubber is worse... :clap:

I always play black so cannot compare. But durability is very technique dependent. My DG lasts much longer then DG in some other hands. The only difference I know I wash my rubbers with soapy water once a week.

Hard to say. I change blades and FH rubbers but keep old DG on the other side of many spare blades. Playing time also differs much. I think I need to change after 4-6 months of 5-8 hours a week playing.

I sense the difference in hardness feel after 2-3 months. I prefer new hard pips feel but keep playing longer because it is pain to glue ox. I use old voc glue.

We’ve a new coach (who comes from the club of Gustaf Eriksson) and he immediately told me to try out DG OX after seeing me play for about 30 minutes. I’ve given it a try for this past week (about 10h) and I’m quite amazed at how easy it is to execute aggressive strokes. I guess that the (relatively) grippy pips can be credited for this.

I’ve briefly gone through this thread and lots of people seem to talk about pips breaking but also that the rubber behaves differently after breaking in. Will these type of aggressive strokes become more tricky to execute once the rubber is broken in?

Half broken pips are slower and have less friction. New rubber is more incoming spin sensitive.
Ball properties, room humidity and temperature are more important then age of rubber.

Is this true? I play black and hate it dying in 1,5 - 2 months.

Hello,Lannakrigaren!! I think DG durability depends on the style of the player .I rarely hit with it, a lot of passive blocking, pushing, sidewiping.

Red DG seems to have much, much better durability , especially, longer than the black version. Spinlord themselves admits this fact .I have three DG in red , and I lost just 1 pip near the upper edge in about 6 months .

On average I can only train 3 / 4 days per week .

I am playing DG for 8 years practically nothing else. I only tried SpinLord Sternenfall and immediately did not like it (too flat ball curve after lifting stroke). But when I tried many others rackets I could play all their LPs with the same technique with good control and effect. They wonder how good their racket is playing in my hands (because they are usually lower rated) and I wonder:
what makes DG so special?

My thoughts about DG:
+ chop-block is low and usually loaded with high underspin;
+ good control pushing or rolling no spin balls;
+ sharp curve to play short balls;
+ excellent height control against short ball to really aim for net point (they hate me for this).
- impossible to play anything except passive chop or chop-block against topspin drive;
- impossible to push or chop incoming underspin so I have to always roll or fish the ball back;
- flat hit is hard to control so I have to play anything else;
- punch-block against service and short balls is hard to control with DG or I am just not good at it.

Not sure if above are DG specifics or my personal technique.

Pardon my ignorance, but whats a passive chop ? I'm aware of just passive block, and cop-block...

From the posts I've read on this thread, it seems to me that DG does a pretty job of passive blocking, against top-spins ..

What typically happens, when you push or chop incoming underspin ?

No control at all. Similar if you hit topspin with most LPs.

One of the flaws I discovered with DG is that it blocks long on very hard shots performed by high ranked players with mega fast rubbers/ blades .Hence, its braking effect is very poor.Also, for the same reason,on long fast no spin balls it is not easy to keep the ball low and short so the opponent has difficulty attacking.

I think ,for this kind of opponents, we need a rubber that has both low trajectory and braking effect.That´s the reason why I will be testing Sword Scylla and GD Talon ; D. techs for the moment is out of the game for me because of its speed .

I will try it on the Grubba + and on an all round blade, maybe Sanwei m8 .The coronavirus thing is delaying all orders ; must be patient .....

Have you had issues like this when using DG?
