Returns like this are extremely effective up to a certain level and mostly against lower ranked players. I play similar with my old yinhe t10 palio setup. Opponents are surprised when you hit the ball on the bounce and even more when you vary speed and placement. Fast wrist movement and the ability to accelerate the ball without a pre-swing are the key elements.

I disagree with "effective up to a certain level and mostly against lower ranked players"

That's why I wrote extremely effective :)

To some degree it also works against higher ranked players but nowhere near as effective as you get fewer opportunities to surprise your opponent, fewer chances in general and even if you make a great push/swipe it is returned more often. But if you have amazing speed and reaction time it could be very effective at high level as well probably.

In fact my current, slower, setup already works as effective as with my t10 setup against lower ranked players and it works better against high level players. So who knows what the future may bring.

he is catching the ball at the top of it,s bounce, with a vertical blade almost, then swipes it. he would,nt get those serves or opportunities against top pros, serve. a fast low long no spin and he would have to twiddle ,block or chop instead. excellent video to remind me of the early ball kill or drop short shot.
