Not sure where you are located. Here in the US, we have a product called "Goo Gone" - great for removing sticky stuff from any surface.

I apply regular cooking vegetable oil, leave it on for about 30 minutes, then snowball it off.

I only glue the blade when applying OX, so it is easier, with the least amount of glue put on the rubber. You can push out any bubbles with your finger.

Always take precaution with any online suggestions, try this on some old OX first.

I just ended up adding a couple more layers of glue (Tearmender) to the rubber and let it dry. It came off in one roll fairly easily. Making it thicker actually made it easier to start.

Teddy, You probably did the best thing to just add a new layer of glue.

Goo Gone will expand the OX rubber for quite awhile (a day or two till it goes back to normal ). It has a speed glue type effect on the base rubber similar to Orange Oil.
I've taken all the old glue off of OX before, but just by being patient and rolling up a little edge and then pulling the glue skin away. Stubborn bits or starting points can be got by using little scraps of ordinary masking tape to press on and peel off at the dried glue. Very tedious but doable as you watch TV or something, just keep dabbing and pulling away and getting a fresh piece of masking tape. What easily happens is you get 80 percent done and then when you're not being careful you rip the base rubber where it has a weak spot.
