Actually, I think the reason for much of the hostility towards people who use long pips is simply because they beat a lot of people, and a lot of people haven't figured out how to play against it.

The cover has a picture of an LP-blocker on it, the same player mentioned above in this thread I think. He has his own version of this rubber with enlarged pips.

But that's not the one with the red cover. A reverse image search brings up these sites:

Anything is possible with Dawei
my wife goes and see's them every year but she won't take me :(
she said sometimes no bosses are there and therefor quality up and down
I realy want more of their Silver arrow shoes because they went up to 47's also no more

Im using the quattro ox version myself, Im sure trying out new shots or do nothing will enhance what I do already

(Im not saying because of the pips) butttttt..... In the last 6 months Im now in the top 100 in NZ (5 years ago 240) I won my first Gold in the NZ Champs teams and my first gold at the NZ Veterans and Im slow old fat untrained etc etc

His Dawei 388D-1 does look funky but hard to know

Apparently you expand it by soaking it in some magic juice - I've heard olive oil, maybe other stuff works too (I'd be very amused it it turned out to be kerosene). I'll betcha the guy in Poland is either expanding them himself, or buying them expanded from someone in China and making his own covers. There was a short discussion about it here:

Apparently these are a dime a dozen on Taobao - lots of people selling them. Ttnpp sells it, but they also have the special Huang rubber:

so if LP ox is expanded in this way, with some oil or whatever, what are the effects at he end...somewhere i read is slower and more grippy, somewhere more desturbing?

has actually any1 done it or bought it and can say firsthand experience?

expanded pips are bigger, feels softer, more grippy and usually they are faster (more destrubing)
with expanded u can add more spin and kill more spin than with non-expanded

eg. look at normal tibhar grass d.tecs :)
pips are soft, grippy, big, wide spaced and fast + rough top of the pip (this characteristic produces most destrubing)
so now imagine more of this characteristic = conclusion more destrubing
those pips are for destrubing

and now for reversal
pips are stiff, non grippy, small, close spaced and slow + flat top of the pip(eg. dr neubauer super special)

for spin manipulation
pips are soft, grippy, close spaced + rough top of the pip(eg. p1r)

Here's the Sifu Huang himself. Uses his own brand rubber.

Whatever it is he's doing.. it certainly is "destrubing"...

so, its not for me:)

i need more spin reversal, not more speed...

I don't find it ugly... he has good serves, goes for the FH attack whenever possible, and uses the LP cleverly. Aside from whether he's getting any help from pips of dubious legality, his style is very very similar to mine. I don't use inverted on my FH, so my serves are not as spinny, and I tend to hit rather than loop, and I twiddle more than he does, but tactically it's very similar indeed. I shall watch and learn :)
