dwruck, thanks for your feedback on DG2.

Just wonder, have you ever tried Sternenfall? can you compare that to DG2?

I notice in the video they are saying DGII 1.0mm?! Do they now offer sponge? I'd be keen to try that.

0.5, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.0

I can only find these at tt-maximum.com, and you need to know Russian/Ukrainian to be able to order ;) . I wonder if sponged DG2 is a factory option or it's something tt-maximum does.

I recently got DG2 in OX - I'm playing further away from the table these days, so curious how it will chop.

This is the first Spinlord rubber I've ever used, so I'm sorry, I cannot compare.

I think I only got pushed back off the table maybe once or twice. Now, I'm not a chopper at all, I think it's fun but probably not my best style. Anyway, my impression was that it was relatively easy to get the ball back, and distance control was pretty good, but it wasn't all that difficult for my opponents to re-loop a chop if it went long on the table. But that's my very limited impression.

Pretty sure japsko have this too, and can custom glue too.

Right, or, as they say in your neck of the woods "you don't bring coal to Newcastle", or something like that (although not sure how this saying relates to DG availability at tt-maximum :) ).

If it's a factory option, curious why tabletennis11 does not carry it

I suspect that it's not a factory sponge, because Koeller's site doesnt' offer it. I'll email him to find out.

Had 11 matches (mostly singles, some doubles) at a tournament yesterday, so I feel like I have a pretty good impression of how it plays for my game.

Overall I like the control. It's not too sensitive to spin, especially coming from playing with Grass DTecS. If I give it a confident stroke, I can hit pretty well against under spin and no spin. Against top, if I find the right angle it blocks well, takes off pace. Not the most "reversal" of the spin, but there is still some, and the combination of the speed/reversal is troublesome for players.

Just for the heck of it, I tried backing off the table to a medium distance and doing some chopping. Again, the nice thing about it was its control. Even the hardest hit shots could be returned. The better players were able to re-loop, so against them it would take me having to return multiple loops to force an error. But against players under USATT 2000, they struggled more with the chops. I had a number where players missed because they thought the ball wasn't going to land on the table and it floated on long, at the end of the table, which surprised them.

What a piece of crap! I lost a bunch of pips on my DG1, so used DG2 on Andro Fibercomp. This one is definitely faster but really sucks when chop blocking against top spins. Pops the ball up and over the table. Wobbling is almost completely gone and so did the low trajectory! Right after the practice tried frantically to reorder DG1 but everybody seems to be out of them, even tt11. I guess, I'll be switching to GD Talon for a time being. Mad!!!!

Maybe it's a blade difference, or that your blade angle when chop blocking was different than what you are used to doing, but I found that chop blocking with the DG 2 was pretty effective. Not the heaviest spin of all the rubbers out there, but pretty good, especially after 2 or 3 in a row.
