DO you know any defenders who changed racket: ( Rubbers or blade) because of the new plastic ball ?

If yes, who and what is the change ?

Using GD Cropcircles vs the Nittaku Premium 40+ Poly, it is easier to do a short ball, seems to work just as well maybe better with unusual bounces.

I don't think there is a need to be honest. It just take a little time to get used to the different bounce and grip.

I don't think the poly ball is doing the push-blocking style much good, at least for me. So these days I've adapted by becoming more of a chop-blocker than a passive-blocker. As a result, I'm revisiting some pips I previously deemed unsuitable for my old style. Of course, it's hard to judge a rubber in just a few sessions. Over time pips will soften, speed will drop, friction will reduce, etc. But it still follows that over time a rubber you like out of the package will remain better than one you dislike even after they're both "broken in."

I'm currently testing about a dozen LPs with the poly ball. The first I tested was Giant Dragon Meteorite Soft. It had a lot of positives, but for me chop blocks against hard hits didn't take enough speed off the ball and they often went long. So that one is out. This doesn't necessarily mean Meteorite Soft is a bad rubber. I doesn't work for me on my slow balsa blade, but others say it's terrific on a faster blade like the Joo. So as always, your mileage may vary.

I use GD Cropcircles with a chop blocking style, works good.

Still have more rubbers to test, but so far CC seems to be the one to beat.

I find CC doesn't do much to the ball and returns with it go much higher than Dtecs off my Gergely. I still think Dtecs is the best, provided you can handle/tame it

It may depend on the player and style. I have a friend who plays with Dtecs OX. I have better control with GD CC OX. My CC has a softer feel than his Dtecs. Very similar though.

My CC does some strange bounces with the new ball, Nittaku Premium 40+ Poly.

I've used Dtec OX for several years. It might be my imagination (or declining skills) but the Dtec seems to block a bit higher....especially with a XuShaoFa. A bit higher means I'm eating more balls.

Last night....with the help of a 1900ish club mate....I switched between Agenda OX and Dtec using duplicate blades. When I chopped he felt no difference between the 2 in terms of spin. I was able to block hard loops a bit lower with more control with the Agenda but that was with the XuShaoFa ball.

The Nittaku seems to float more which is even worse for my "slower" paced game.

But as I said....it could be my imagination. :?:

DTecs is great, no doubt. I used it for years. But, as we all know it has control problems, especially with low spin. In my opinion, the poly ball requires a variable spin game. Spin-reversal wasn't doing it for me anymore. For a variable spin game at the table, I find other LPs are more suitable.

BTW, on my little project of revisiting pips, I retried DMS Undertaker last night. What a great pip! Super feeling, control, could do whatever I wanted. Won two matches, then played a very hard hitter and balls were flying everywhere in warmup. Switched back to Cropcircles and won easily. But, wow. Those first two matches with Undertaker were like heaven. Then disaster. This is a cruel game sometimes.

I just ordered a tsp spinpips 2 chop after playing with TSP P4. We are now playing with Hanno balls (Xushoafa clone)
I'm sitting duck :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: No backspin at all. :@ :@ :@
