I seem to hit a plateau and, of course, it's all equipment's fault, not mine :D. I'm an OX blocker with the rating of 1850 (US). I don't play tournaments too much but play all the time with a lot of guys who are between 2000 and 2300. So when I'm "on", I give them a run for the money. The last couple of months have been tough, though, so I began to experiment. I used to play with NSD/Talon. Switched to Kungfu/dtecs and now to Donic Alligator/ dtecs. Question for you: what's your current setup and its advantages/ disadvantages? I would appreciate your advice.

"Nachalnik" As you can see by my signature I play with a Re-Impact Smart blade with a black Victas VS 401 1.5 on my FH & a red Dr Neubaur Viper OX on my BH.
It has taken me a long time to get to this set up but it gives me great spin on my FH with the Victas sponge being hard which compensates the bounce of the balsa Re-Impact & the Viper being slow giving me great control & explosive power when I need it. :*:
Prior to the Viper I used the Tibhar Grass D.Tecs which was okay but a bit too reactive. :n:

I use an Andro Hiloom, which is a modern 7 ply OFF blade, with Dornenglanz.

I'm very happy with it. It gives lots of reversal on passive and active blocks. It works well from chopping, and with practice, can be used offensively. I've not experienced the durability issues that others have complained about, but even if I did, it's not expensive, and it does all I need.

I've used many other LP, but find DG particularly effective for service return.

I've used a variety of blades from very slow through to fast 7 ply hitting blades. For OX pips I've concluded that a fast 7 or 9 ply blade is the best - there's plenty of feedback, and pip effect is most dangerous with a fast blade. You sacrifice some control, but many hours of multiball and robot practice have helped me there.

I harbour some curiosity about a few other LP sheets - dtecs, viper, and talon mostly, and I'll probably have a play with them in the summer.

Overall: wholehearted recommendation of DG and a 7 ply OFF blade.

IMO, go with a blade that you really like and start from there. I've tried a lot of LPs and blades and felt that a combo play better in this or that way but when it comes to blades there's only a few that have the feel that I like and feel comfortable with. I can like how a blade plays but unless I like the feel I won't be comfortable with it.

Out of the LPs I've tried I like D.Tecs, Dornenglanz and Hellfire the most. I choose to play with D.Tecs because of the feel and the control I get, I think Dornenglanz is the most dangerous but I've had so much durability issues with it that it started to annoy me.

I agree with "Auzcar" the blade must suit you then research the rubbers that suit your style. I was lucky enough to be able to try some other players' setups then trial, error & dollars. :?: |(
