Hi guys,

Last year I used Sauer & Tröger hellfire 0.9mm for my modern defence game. I had my best season to date.

This has suggested to me that I do better with pimples that offer spin reversal. Hellfire is not regarded as being a chopping rubber as such.

So my question is, would I fair better with dtecs or feint long 2 or something along those lines for my game? Can you give any suggestions? Something that offers the spin reversal but is more suited to chopping than hellfire?

Thank you

Well, it depends on your style and preferential "feel" when it comes to equipment, and it also depends on the characteristics of your equipment and what you want out of it. If you like chopping a lot with very active strokes, depending on your experience, you might as well go for curl p1r 1.0mm :D

And there is also the issue of what you mean by spin reversal.... As I understand it, there is passive spin reversal and active reversal as well; I could be wrong though, I haven't been caught with the technical world of TT ;)

But honestly, anything will do, dtecs and fl2 are both fine, just choose one and stick with it for a while and see if you like it.

Can anyone tell me about easy p by sauer & troger?

Does it have grip to make spin on no spin balls and does it give heavy backspin?

Yes, it's very grippy for an LP. In fact I have a hard time with serve return because of it.

Yep, all LPs can...this is less dependant on how much spin your opponent gives you, so you need to be active.

It also depends on the type of blade you are using, anything that stops the spin, when you are talking about reversal, is bad, so a fast hard blade like African Mahogany will repel the spin because it doesnt have much dwell time, add in no sponge, and you have a blade that continues whatever your opponent gave you. Heavy loop becomes heavy underspin on a passive block.

If you are talking about chopping, that's a whole different idea. Because you are far from the table and using full strokes you want some dwell time to manipulate the spin. Hence, you want sponge. You also want some feel, it does you little good to have great deep chopping strokes if you get pick hit to death because your table game sucks. Look at the world class choppers, they block very little, and are masters of the short table game when they push. And frankly, any more, they almost all twiddle. Food for thought-Good Luck!!!
