I've written an simple article for casual table tennis players on how to beat their friends at table tennis using long pimple rubbers...

I plan to publish this in a few places, and hope to attract more new players to actively play table tennis, by having fun with long pimple rubbers. This could not only bring more players to table tennis, but can also bring more players to long pimples, and encourage others to learn about them so that they can become more accepted in tt in general.

Fun way of beating your friends at table tennis

Please have a read and provide me with some comments. I'd really like some opinions before I go ahead and publish it... Please be honest and totally brutal

Thanks guys!

Thanks speedplay!

Yes I know what you mean. I come accross player like this a lot too. I though about this myself...

However from my experience, just putting a little spin on the ball often throws these players completely. I don't know if it's the bounch, or just the fact that they're used to NO spin at all... So IF they still manage to get the ball back, the return WILL carry spin (yours), often a fair bit if their bat has no grip, so you can still use the LP on this to create awkward balls... So if the spinny rubber doesn't get them, hopefully the LP will...

Great article! I do agree with speedplay though... A lot of casual players play shots without spin, especially on serves. This makes the effectiveness of the long pips a lot harder to exploit. In fact, they might even play worse (I still have trouble with those fast, no spin serves to my backhand  ) BUT, if they are slightly above that level where most play mindless topspins/sidespins, then this article will be perfect for them...hope that helps :)

Thanks for the comments guys!

You make some good points and I agree with that, it won't be that effective in some areas.

Do you think it serves it's purpose of attracting more players to table tennis and long pimples? Or will it just create anger / frustration by some players because they're getting beaten by the bat, not the player  ?

I obviously want the article to have a mostly positive impact for table tennis, which is why I wrote it.

The way I look at it is that it add the knowledge of the game to lot of ppl.
My practice partner didn't know chop and float til I was bored of beating him then he played better. Knowledge is the important part of improving!!!

Maybe the title of the article should be like ..... the shortcut to beating your friend.

Thanks Bogeyhunter...

Yes you're right, the title could be a little better. It should have table tennis in the title, must not be too long, and must have some punch. How about:

1. Sneaky ways of beating your friends at table tennis

2. Evil ways of winning at table tennis

3. Payback time - beating your friends at table tennis

Yes you may be right. That's probably a good thing, since they may think a little more seriously about their game, and may be encouraged to join a club or something...

I thought the article is really good. Well written (only one typo), it should entice a few people to the Dark side.

I remember just reading the description on 755 was enough to get me to try Long Pimples, since then I never looked back (only when I get hammered or my backhand gets abused by a barrage of no spin pushes).

Not sure about the same colour for rubbers. Beginners should probably start off on the right track. I remember when you accidentally glued two reds on your blade. I dont think you made any friends that day!

Cheers! What a typo??? now I'm gonna have to read the whole thing again :x

Yes an good description can make a big difference...that's where the marketing people come in...

Yes you might be right about the colour thing... I'll think about that!

Thanks!

Edit: Found the typo..... 'bounces' not 'bounches'
