So I had another hit with it tonight, against a really good looper. This rubber is definitely more for a chopper than a blocker/hitter. I had a VERY difficult time controlling any of his loops, they all kept gripping too much and were all flying long and high. Switched to the Dornenglanz 2 in OX and was actually blocking and hitting VERY well.

So I probably won't be playing with this any more. It just doesn't suit my type of game.

Wanna sell or donate it? It likely is meant for my type of game. ;)

AND, I play with a defplay.

Dwruck, thanks!

Haggisv, can you speak to how it chops? The tensor part is what gives me pause.

I could not help myself either, had a session yesterday against a top level ( ex NZ Rep ) female looper

On my Victas Off blade, I have many blades ( via Hassisv ) and this was a heavier one 95 gms i normally use a lighter one

I reminded me of Guillotine as it attacked really well push over the table popped up and chopping I am not sure, itis either really good or ok,, seemed to get a few no spins chops when i though they should be choppy

I am going back today to try it again and in readiness for Aussie Vets next week I just put on new VS410 1.8mm ( boosted first time trying this on this rubber BTW and OMG it is spinny ) and a new P-r1 so I will compare against brand new p-R1 and report back

Greggy

PS See all you Aussie vets soon.. look out I am fit this year done training and I will be dangerous

So I finally hit with this for just an hour and even played a match with it, have some preliminary insights.

First off, big huge thanks to Dwruck for the LPO rubber!

To me, coming from P-1R 1.0mm, it's much faster (both on Defplay). I didn't get any feeling of dampening with this rubber. I felt the tensor, and it seemed springy. I think when playing passively it's a bit more dampening, but it's not really for that.

It's grippy, about as grippy as FL2 or P-1R...perhaps a tick less. That being said, it's far more forgiving vs. spin because the pips themselves seem to bend VERY easy, without being overly soft...hard to describe. If you touch the pips with your fingers, they are very flexible, but the pips themselves seem harder than dtecs. So you get a bit of a dichotomy in feeling. It's not overly spin sensitive on serve return.

The rubber is VERY lively, and fast. It's how I imagined guillotine, although I never tried those. Because of the speed, it hit very dynamically, although I'm not used to the speed so I was all over the place. What I didn't like (because I'm not used to it) was how bouncy it felt on bumps. When I bumped or flicked...I could not go short, and often sent those flying off the table. As in, both me and my partner were like, "damn what was that?" And the ball taken was not tricky, I read the spin correctly. Just didn't behave at all like p-1R.

Hitting is very nice, and you can do so very easily, again I'm so not used to the rubber, i had no control here. But when i did land them, it was a very impressive and deadly shot. No way those come back. You just need to garner the control.

Chopping...I LOVED chopping with this rubber. Effortless. The flexibility of the pips felt so perfect, and the ball seemed to be easy to rev up the spin both borrowing and adding to the spin received. NICE. Might be the nicest. That being said, i could NOT figure out the damn speed. I went long a LOT, against very innocuous loops, that I would otherwise land with any other rubber. Really, If this was about 1/2 the speed, it would be everything I was searching for. The spin on the loop is rarely the problem with this rubber, it's the speed.

Big caveat, I am extrapolating all of this based on an extremely small sample size...so I will try to give my impressions after a few weeks. If I feel like I can't get used to the speed, I will move on.
