When trying to order some long pips I found no option for choosing sponge thickness on the pips that I wanted,it just specified 0.5-1.0,I only want them in 0.5.There is an option when using Paypal to add a message where I could ask this.Has anyone any experience with this?,I preferred the old website which did let you select thickness

Which pips, and can you give the link? Also, have you tried Eacheng's Aliexpress outlets?

I've only ordered on eBay and AliExpress. I've had to send a message on the order for red/black and ox/sponge. I think a paypal message should be good. I think. Or just do eBay.

I guess it's the 388D with sponge which is available in 0.5-1mm, no separate packages where you can have explicitly 0.5 or 1.0mm.

But if you're registered you can leave a message also asking if there's by any chance a thin 0.5mm within their stock and while ordering you can ask for a thin version as well.

+1 what Red said.

Some makes of rubber do not come with specific 0.5 and 1.0 sponge. The label on the package actually says "0.5-1.0". Perhaps this allows for less rigid QC, so they save some money. (Same quality sponge is cheaper if tolerances are not so narrow.) One would hardly expect the reseller to measure each sheet to enable more precise spec than the maker provides (that would add significantly to the cost).

Eacheng's been pretty helpful about hand-picking stuff in the past, usually when I want a light blade or a blade of a specific weight.. I don't think they'll take the calipers to the sponge but I think they'd be willing to look for a thin sheet. I suspect all the sheets in stock will be about the same thickness, though. Probably something in between.

if you want OX pips, click on the "Topsheets" link; not "rubbers (out)".
it should bring you to this: http://www.eacheng.net/T-T-Topsheet--5BOX-5D-c1460.html
