I'm curious whether players who use this technique use wrist or no wrist. In his long pips training video, Sebastien Sauer uses no real wrist action, but there are some players who seem to use more wrist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQZw-gMCS84), or even SIGNIFICANTLY more wrist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7KLdRACmRg). I've noticed that when I add wrist, it makes the shot more dangerous for both me and my opponent. Anyone have any views on this?

The best LP players I know (and those who have taught me) have indicated that this should be one with a stiff wrist, but without a massive amount of energy. Not an easy shot, but lethal when performed correctly.

This is absolutely correct. I learned the agressive push from German top LP Ox player and trainer Sebastian Sauer.

Here also a short video of Canadian player Alex Melnik, showing his skills.

The agressive pushing starts at about minute 3.10

Really useful video, thanks. Seems he's always taking the ball toward the bottom of his blade.

I think it's easier to do without any wrist, but not as fast. I mainly use anti currently, but the technique seems to be about the same.

Some people treat it like a boxer's jab. Get the blade angle right, then just punch straight out like a jab, or a piston ramming forward.

And still other people make it like a backhand fist. Where you snap at an angle. That's the way I like to do it, adding in a wrist snap was well for extra speed when possible.

Rondel has very good technique and ability, I note he keeps quite an angled bat often at impact whilst employing the swipe also from right to left as he chop blocks, this really helps to neutralise incoming spin and with his chop block creates a lot of reversal! Anybody know what equipment he uses?

not gonna brag, but until to the evidence of the contrary i will claim that i have the fastest attack with either slick anti or long pimples (when i played them back in the days), so i will share a few cents on this issue :-p

you most definitely need to use the wrist to accelerate the ball even more..the wrist goes back and slightly downward and then punch the ball forward...this has been posted before, but demonstrates it:

it was the "neubauer allround premium" on a gergely blade. i however never used this set up, as i didnt like the pimple for blocking. the video was just for demonstrating just how fast you can attack with long pimples ;)

My coach knows Ronel, and introduced us, so we're FB friends now. I'm planning to be in Israel later in the year, and will train with Ronel, I hope.
