Hi all,

Tried to glue D-tecs ox with a glue sheet. I usually do this the alternative way I learned from this group, that it, stick the sheet on pips and just use regular white glued like sponged rubber. That always works well but for some reason I wanted to use the glue sheet according to the directions, that is, sticking it on the blade trimming and sticking bottom of sheet to blade with cut sheet.

It was a disaster and I'm worried I ruined this most expensive LP. I didn't roll the sheet on carefully and the top half has several big bubbles.

Does anyone think I can take off the LPs from glue sheet and rescue it?

Thanks,

You might be able to make tiny holes where the bubbles are to get the air out.

Yeah, no worries. Just take a safety pin and poke a hole in each bubble and then rub it flat. Won't affect the playing characteristics at all.

I assume there weren't any bubbles under the glue sheet, in which case the air is between the rubber and the glue sheet. So you probably won't have to penetrate the glue sheet, just the rubber.

It's a big pain and mess but you can eye dropper some acetone and get the rubber off slowly bit by bit and then if the glue sheet is damaged remove the glue sheet and start all over.

Personally I'd never put even a pin hole in OX rubber on purpose. That makes a starting place for the rubber to tear. If you are an active versus passive pips player most brands of OX are quite fragile anyway.
