Post subject:  Blade recommendation for DTecS OX?

Hi guys,

A guy at my club has been using DTecS OX for years now, but he never seems to be able to settle on a blade. I must have seen him use 5/6/7 different blades.
He's asked me for advice, as I also use LP. However I have never used DTecS so I didn't know what to suggest, so I come here for help.

He returns serves with either a chop, or an aggressive push. He then either aggressively pushes/punches at the table, or steps back and chops the ball. He uses DTecS on his BH.

For this style of up to the table pushing/punching and also the stepping back and chopping, can you recommend a blade for his style using the DTecS OX?

Hopefully we can stop him changing his equipment once and for all! (However I'm one to talk lol)

Thanks guys!

I have spent loads of money over many years buying blades for my close to the table blocking, pushing game using Dtecs OX.
I have finally settled on the Tibhar defence plus blade which is fairly cheap.
This was the blade I used in the old Super Block days so in essence I'm back to the beginning.
There is a moral there somewhere.

Yes, Tibhar defence plus works really well, I've tried that one with dtecs OX too. The only thing is that it's quite slow, so it may be too slow for chopping from long distance, or for attack on forehand. Re-Impact Tachi and Smart work really well with Dtecs OX as well, and have considerably faster forehand (but are considerably more expensive too).

I cannot comment on chopping but my forehand is more of a drive/kill stroke.
I use Tibhar defence plus 0.5mm and it usually wins the point.
A faster rubber could be used for a more topspin shot.

What about a Butterfly Defence IV? I have one spare I was going to give him, would that work well with the DTecS OX? Would it allow for high reversal and be good both close to and away from the table?

My team mate asks what difference adding a 0.5mm sponge to the DTecS would do? How would this differ to OX?

I have a spare Tibhar Defence Plus I could sell, if your friend is interested. Tenner plus postage?

For me the best blade I've used with Dtecs OX was a Primorac.

I've used both. The sponge gives you better options for attacking, and a bit more chance to vary/deceive with chop. Less reversal, but a bit more 'wobble'.

Cheers mate for the info. I'll pass the info on and ask about the blade!

Tibhar Defense Plus is great for taking off the pace of speedy topspinners and keeping the return on the table. The slowness of the blade is effective against speedy player, but if he's not mainly playing fast spiny players, he could use a faster blade. I liked the Andro Fibercomp for use with D Tecs and Viper ox. It's faster than the Defense Plus, but still very controllable.

have you tried it on many others-dtecs ox is good on a defplay for control purposes.

Recommend TSP Black Balsa 3.0 this works at a strong level.Current No 1 in Leeds top division averages using this with red d-tecs ox,he told me the spin reversal is massive when chop blocking.I am using this myself but not with De-Tecs and compared to the Defplay the control is better and the spin reversal is accenuated with ox rubbers(thin sponged lp`s also)and you can block shorter,it is also better for ox chopping,my results have improved compared to the Defplay
