My experience with Desperado 2 (D2) is very similar to both Chris and Dusty.

This is a brief comparison of D2 to Dr N Gangster which I have been using recently.
On inspection D2 has thinner, harder and wider spaced pips then Gangster.
Somewhat similar in appearance to Blitszchlag. However it plays very differently to Blitszchlag.
D2 definitely has lower grip then gangster, both in game play and even when just dragging a ball across the pips.
D2 is not a really low grip pip like D'Tecs/Badman/Talon but it is definitely on the lower end of the grip spectrum.
It plays slightly faster then Gangster but with slightly less control due to the lower grip and higher speed.

I have also used d2 and all Dr N other long pimples and at great expense. I personally think Dr N has lost his way bringing out numerous long pimples with a marketing blurb to convince us that he has now ‘cracked’ it. Well they haven’t and just cannot command the same incredible results following the friction ban. There are far more cost effective rubbers on the market which have in my opinion better long pimple playing characteristics. Low throw, control, disturbance, reversal and flat hit capabilities.

Well in all fairness to Dr N if minimum friction levels are set by the ITTF there's only so much room for innovation and the rest is all just marketing. Having said that I would rather give my money to Dr N then to BTY.

Any recommendations for LPs that play similar to Gangster? Im looking for a LP that has pips slightly firmer/stiffer then gangster.

I have not received my new blade yet and wish I had gone for D2 now. If there is any further delay then I might well do!
