Traditionally most frictionless long pimple players used ox but now with the ban in competition play and the new ball The effectiveness of playing ox, in my opinion has diminished. What are others thoughts and I’d also like to know the varying different styles that play with ox or sponge and what thickness.

I literally, just glued on my ox LP today... Are you telling me that my setup is not legal?

OX LP is legal -- it's the frictionless LP that is banned. And you wouldn't have any of that unless you bought one years ago or an "illegal" one recently, like dr neubauer super block.

What would a dampening sponge do to say a faster ox pip like pogo? I thought I read on here somewhere that it's not a good idea as it would mess up the throw and control.

A dampening sponge would slow it down, but significantly reduce spin reversal.

Best to use frictionless anti if you want the reversal with slowness
