So the scoop direct from Der Materialspezialist is the Undertaker is slower and has "perfect control." The LSD has more disruptive effect.

They are available starting next month.

They should send me a sample in black 0x to try.

If *I* can win with it, *ANYONE* can!

As I wrote before in MNNB's blog, Martin Spin evaluated both LSD as undertaker at the German "Pimp my blade" - For LSD: http://www.pimp-my-blade.de/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1582. Looks like martin's evaluation marks are higher for each new LP entering the market, while I haven't got the impression (by reading about it) that the actual performance has changed so much in the last years... Compared to his current evaluation marks, Grass D-tecs looks like a very moderate rubber, while most agree that to date no other pip has a bigger disturbing effect.

His conclusion about LSD:

"Für mich ist das bis dato die beste Störnoppe seid dem Verbote von glatten Noppen. Einfach zu kontrollieren, sehr gute Schnittweiterleitung und "krumme" Flugbahn. Die Werte sagen eigentlich schon alles, denn von hinten macht der L.S.D. nicht wirklich sehr viel Sinn. Am und über dem Tisch ist er jedoch ein Massstab für alles, was noch in Sachen griffige Störnoppe in der nächsten Zeit auf dem Markt erscheinen wird."

Or roughly translated: best disturbing long pips on the market since the frictionless ban. Easy to control, good spin continuation, and curved path. Not the best for long defence, but close to the table it's the new benchmark for each future long pip...

MNNB reminded us that Martin normally plays sponge and that he might grade on different criteria...

In one thing this manufacterer certainly beats D-tecs: the colourful comic-like package and the 'creativity' in naming the pips, like LSD ^_^

His effort is commendable, but to be honest, I've tried most of the ones he rated well, and I don't think his rating numbers give a good indication of what will work well or won't. He doesn't say how each of his rating numbers are arrived at, so you can't argue with the numbers, except that they don't reflect the reality of how well you do playing with them. It may be that he is not doing tests with 0x rubbers, or maybe the tests just don't reflect the real world ueses/abilities of the rubbers, we just don't know.

And DTec.S is rated way down in the pack. Go figure!

BTW, Something I noticed is that the pips density (ie pips per sq cm) of DTec.S is the lowest of any long pips I have.

I got the name during the first tests a view month ago playing with my friend which sometimes is celebrating too much.
The balls are swirling on the way back to him and after 20 minutes he says to me:

I think I got to much LSD yesterday what a sh.t

At the way home I still smiele about this and then I got the name. Long Super Defence
Thats why I love this job.

Martinspin tested the 1,0mm version.
I am of course proud a player like Martin wrote so good about the L.S.D. but otherwise I do not like results like this.
The expectation of all other customers are very high now.

I for my self prefefer the UNDERTAKER
Cheers Guido

Guido,

Its very nice that you care enough about your rubber to take the time to come here and post. I too enjoyed the packaging, but once the rubber is on the blade, nobody sees the packaging. Its only advantage is the psychological factor of being able to tell your opponent you have LSD long pips on the backhand, which could be fun. I too love sending people back screwballs that they have no clue what to do with or literally hits their body when it bounces sideways into them (from their own crazy spins reversed and enhanced by me).

I haven't played with your rubber, so can not comment on its attributes. I have spent a lot of time and money trying 25 or 30 different long pips, and found some that work for my game, but of those I just have not been able to find one that I could win as many points with as the DTec.S 0x. The attributes I value are spin continuation on blocks and chop blocks, disruption, deep chopping ability (high control, heavy underspin and low trajectory), ability to keep pushes low with varied spin, and attacking ability vs underspin and no spin balls. I really hate buying the DTec.S at $55 a sheet, but spend the money grudgingly in order to win more points. I have had problems with the DTec.S not lasting very long, and that adds to my pain. I'm guessing your rubber would also be pretty expensive by the time it was shipped here to the US, so it would be difficult for me to justify trying it.

I think part of the problem in "rating" different rubbers is that we don't all play using the same shots, so what works great for one person might not work at all for someone else, or may work on some shots and not others. Of course we need to adjust how we play to what equipment we use and to finding ways to exploit that and our opponents weaknesses to win points, games and matches.

Perhaps when people get to PLAY with your rubber they will be impressed...

Hi Old-Man-Southpaw,
of course you are right about the cover but if you see a rubber cover you can hopefully identify what I want to tell with it to my customers.
It is of course also marketing.
Yesterday evening we had a match and one player of my team plays L.S.D.
In germany we have referee in our league and he control all rubbers with a the LARC.
The first point was the referee smiles about the name the second point was the opponent says :

"Oh this name promise nothing bode well"

The rating of others are of course individual. Most players play different style ,different blade and different 2.rubber.

Some will love it some will hate it.
Some loves blond girls some ,black girls....
Thats why our sport is so famous....

Only for the names, LSD and Undertaker, I would try them

- Waw, what's this sh..t of long pimples?
- Ho don't worry, I play with LSD...

And supose it gives more strange balls than the allround premium I use, I already imagine the feeling of my opponents, something like this :@
