Hi guys,

I'm looking into trying Palio CK531a as it's inexpensive. I will be mounting it onto a sponge of my choice in 1mm.

Which version of CK531a is the best in terms of reversal and control? I will mostly be chopping away from the table but also side swiping, bumping and general LP short play shots when I'm at the table.

Which of these would be the best one to go for?

or

or

These are the 3 versions I've found, please give me your advice! :)

Thanks!

As far as I know, there's only one version of CK531A.

The yellow packaging is the OX version, the blue/white is the top+sponge version. Not sure about the green one.

In any case, forget about the packaging, get whichever cheaper in OX version since you're planning to use your own sponge.

The yellow packet is the popular one with more grip and control compared to the blue packet which is semi frictionless and faster, from memory the pips are also stiffer and the base is thicker on the blue version.I havn't used the green version but remember reading that it has softer pips and didn't play as well as the yellow packet.

Thanks guys, so in essence the blue packet has more reversal but it's faster slightly?

Chopping game would maybe be better with the yellow packet..

I also saw a website selling some Palio CK531a special versions. Ones that said they played like frictionless rubbers, how is this possible to sell? Surely it's illegal?

As far as I know it’s not illegal to sell treated rubbers, but the seller should be clearly specifying that they have been treated and thus not approved for competitive use.

If you want to chop the yellow or green version is the way to go I couldn't make any backspin with the blue version, too fast and not enough grip.I seem to remember that the black 531a was slower and more suited for chopping.I will revisit this rubber when my injury heals ,I think it will work on the black balsa blade ,was a bit too fast on Defplay I was using back then (ox 531a),I will be testing with 0.5 sponge along with 388d-1 0.5

At the moment I am experimenting with K.O ox plus palio ck 531A.Yes, palio in the yellow version is much slower than palio in the blue+black version ( red side).I can attack with my fh with palio and due to more grip in the yellow version,my fh attack is easier and more effective.

On the other hand, with the blue + black version after removing the sponge, you get a faster palio and if you master the speed it is dangerous in pushes and chop blocks , however, one flaw with palio,in my opinion, is that it is a bit inconsistent in some strokes and you can miss the table when it should not . Therefore, the yellow version being slower, the control obtained can reduce the inconsistency and in a twiddling game even more .Variation in the game with palio is a must since higher level players will adapt to it very soon .

Hope this info helps!!

good day !!

I recently tested the CK531A OX from a yellow package. I put it on the same blade I have been using. The rubber was new and not used so not properly seasoned.

It was similar to the long pips ox I have been using. I have better feel with my seasoned rubber that I have been using for awhile. That is normal.

I play a push blocker style close to the table, with an emphasis on chop blocking. I do punch high balls.

This rubber played normal for me.

The rubber is very inexpensive. It would be a good choice for someone wanting to try long pips.

Information concerning the yellow and green packaged versions can be found at https://ttdd.eu (German only). Short version:
yellow: easy to use, grippy long pimples rubber that doesn't require much wrist action.
green: a little bit slower and more grippy compared to the old version

I've been using both versions, yellow with 1mm sponge, green with 0,7mm (my current setup). Not that much difference between both rubbers if you discount sponge influence. My chops are more consistent with thinner sponge, you shouldn't count on deception in either case. The green version is said to be more durable. Never had a problem with that though...

Dear Friends,
Hereby, please be informed that no more than a single version of the CK 531 rubber product is now allowed for marketing.
Thanks a lot for supplying us a proper information. We gonna to deal with the many illegal versions of Chinese products.

Thank you once more :l: :l:
