We have similar threads about 388D-1 and CK531A:

First (as with those other rubbers), Saviga V comes in two sponge colors with no explanation that I see. That is worrisome, but since I'll probably stick with OX I could overlook it.

But now I see that the base sheet comes in two thicknesses too. The camera doesn't want to show it clearly but the difference in person is obvious, with the thicker one closer to P1-R (.35mm) and the thinner one closer to 388D-1 (.2mm).

Why should I trust that any of its other properties are as expected, and will stay stable from one purchase to the next?

At the moment my attitude is that if either P3aR (reportedly) or P1-R are "close enough", then I'll just stick with TSP with the goal of never thinking about this again! I'm currently cleaning the glue off of an old used P1-R OX (that stuck to itself after being pulled off), and I know it can support a lot of offense.

The annoying thing is, just yesterday I dismissed sponge again because Saviga V OX was working so well, and I also "discovered" the stroke required to make impressive topspin drives with it. Now I must have this shot, so I need P1-R or P3aR to do it too! I suspect they will. EDIT 26SEP18: P1-R does easily support the same shot.

EDIT: Here's a better picture. Thicker one is rich red while thinner one is orangish and a little more glossy.

From the larger database I thought these numbers were the most interesting. Words in parenthesis are mine, and I used some trailing zeros to make the columns line up:

The rest are my numbers:
Measured with a micrometer of a type that is not correct for this material (so don't quote my numbers, but I tried to be consistent), the thin one's basesheet was about .27mm (I guess this is martinspin's .3mm) and the thick one was about .37mm (so I guess martinspin's .4mm).

17.9 388D-1 Quattro (388D-1's base sheet is supposedly .2mm, so these numbers seem to make sense)
18.9 388D-1 Regular
20.3 Saviga V (thin version) Ask retailer if you want: total package weight for this one should be about 44.3g.
23.0 Saviga V (thick version)

Tested: P1-R OX is grippier and a little slower than Saviga V OX (thin version). I might post more about it in the future.

This is one of the reason OOAK Shop stopped carrying Dawei stuff, the variation between the same product purchased at different times could be huge. We've had blades with different length handles, rubbers that were completely different. I suspect they contract it out to different factories, perhaps the cheapest bidder gets the the contract for the certain period. If it was done in the same factory, it would be hard to get that much variation between sheets.
It's a shame because some of their stuff is really good... but just not consistent.

I overreacted a little when I started this thread, as Saviga V is a very good rubber. If you're interested in the OX just ask the retailer to weigh the unopened package, as I said above. The package with the thinner one should weigh 44.3-45.1. The thicker one should weigh about 2g more. Good luck!

EDIT: Hardness, speed, and reversal: P3 > Saviga V > P1-R.

Saviga V is a great rubber for active blocking.
