I moved from Defplay to Black Balsa 3 after using a friends in practice and felt that the control was better with ox lp on the Tsp blade ,I found a bigger contrast with the Tsp blade on slow and fast strokes , when I f/h attack it goes, when I defend it's slow and controlled more so than the Defplay,I think Defplay needs a thin sponge under the lp with the harder heavier plastic ball to gain some control.

As mentioned earlier, I have a 10cm thick XVT Balsa Hinoki Carbon Blade with a Pogo and Focus 3 Snipe - I found it difficult to control, initially. But, now, It's a super fun setup to play with, and I love hitting with it (even from the LP side) .... Even the blocking with pretty good, and seems to absorb the pace of the shot, on both sides...

It seems to have a kind of dual property - Absorbing Pace with blocking, and generating a fair amount, when hitting.. I'm not sure if it's just the blade composition, and/or the setup as a whole.

robm

do you think schzerm would compare favourably with meteorite for me?
hellfire is too soft and nasty for me personally.

i am drawn towards schzerm would you say it is more of an allround lp?

i want something with some deception/reversal to help with return of serbe and some control.
but i find it hard to hit with hellfire and palio ck etc

seems a bit easier with meteorite

i am tempted by zik zak which looks to have some good qualities
