Hi, my name is Ben and I'm a 15 year old student from Perth, Australia. ( Am I old enough to be on this forum?)
Well....where did it all begin? It all started when I moved houses, and there was this large community hall near my new house where old/retired people would come and play table tennis/badminton. Being Chinese, my dad was a good table tennis player but he is not that active anymore. I never knew he could play tt until we came to the community hall!
During the holidays which is every 3 months, I would come and play at the hall for fun, because I had nothing better to do. I gradually started to get better without any coaching but from just developing my own style. I've been playing tt ever since and it's my favourite sport, mainly because it's the only sport I can play and Im good at
My style is....well...offensive as well as defensive. I'm a two-winged looper at close and mid-distance and I start chopping on both fh and bh when I get pushed 3-5 meters back from the table. My standout stroke is my backhand loop which is just as powerful as my fh loop (Like Kreanga!!) I'm primarily a shakehand player but I can also play Chinese penhold style (I don't play Cpen that much because it hurts my fingers)
I'm currently not in any club but my school recently bought a few tt tables, and they're pretty crappy to be honest. So nowadays I spend my lunchtimes in the school gymnasium playing tt.
Till now, I've used pre-made bats, but this week, I've just ordered a "quality" blade and some Chinese rubbers, so Im very excited and can't wait for them to arrive.
I'm currently searching for an inverted rubber that is good for both looping and chopping, doesnt have to be good at blocking cause I'm not a blocker. So if anyone has any suggestions, please tell me!
