I read on a german language table tennis forum that DAWEI manufactored the Super Block for Dr. Neubauer and that it was a re-labeled 388D rubber. Dr. Neubauer would then treat it and made it frictionless and sell it as Super Block. Is there any truth to that? Has anybody ever compared Super Block and 388D? I just ordered 2 sheets of 388D.. I'll probably make them frictionless and then compare them to a Super Block.. I don't have a sheet of Super Block anymore (gave away most of my old fricitonless rubbers when they were outlawed), so I really can't compare them.. Does anyone here have both, a sheet of 388D and a sheet of Super Block?

I've only ever used the D-1. I like it a lot for hitting and deception, since they're so grippy, but I never found them particularly great for blocking.

For me, they block too low and often into the net when taking the ball early.. It's otherwise a great rubber.. Without sponge, I don't see them as too grippy..

I like that I can both hit and chop with them pretty effectively. My technique at hitting with them is a lot better than my chopping technique, but chopping isn't really my game anyway, I like to play a more aggressive style with them.

If true, it would be amazing, for the Dawei 388D is much much faster than the SB. Also, I don't think rubbers are made frictionless after they have been produced, but rather in the production process itself. I currently play with 388D and I know SB from a friend of mine; to me, they don't seem alike at all.

I know for a fact that some of the frictionless rubbers were treated from the factory after the rubber was produced..
There are plenty of methods available.. As far as I know, some manufactorers were coating the pips with some kind of epoxy and others were using high intensity UV lamps. (something much stronger than a face tanner) As far as I know, TT Master used microwave treatment on insider and Swing Back IF.. Microwave treatment leaves some friction on the rubber but still reduces it quite a bit.

Effect is similar, but Super Block has way, Way, WAY better control than frictionless antis...and slower.

Super Block easier on serve return, but frictionless anti good too. Neither good at chopping away from the table.

Is there big difference (visually or after touching) between friction and frictionless long pips?
