OOAK Table Tennis Forum

How about we made a chat for the forum, where members could discuss tt issues.
I know that so many other forums have a chat included.
What do you fell about the idea ?

Sounds okay too me, but I'm not sure if it would take off?

Haggisv, isn't it time for you to dig up one of those old treads were we discussed the chat thing and sticky it at the top of this section?

This have been discussed several times already and I'm one of those who are truly against it as I believe it would kill the forum. Why? Cause now imagine that I'm out looking for advice about blade x, I see that our own Legend Silver is out browsing the place, what do you think I would do, make a post about blade x or ask Silver about it in the chat?

Yes, you are right, I would ask Silver about it, thus generating one tread less in the forum. So when Reb looks at the forum, he don't see anything about blade x, which has been his primary weapon for ages, but since no one asks him about it, he don't get to share his knowledge about it.

Then Speedy Wobbler gets interested in the same blade X, he browses the forum for some info about it, can't find it, but he also finds Silver on-line and starts a chat session with him.

By the time Der_Echte has opened his eyes for the blade x, Silver is getting mighty tired of answering the same questions over and over, but new members will see a forum with fewer posts and might actually pick to join another forum.

As you can see, I'm not a big fan of a on line chat here, especially since I live in the wrong time zone of many members, the on-line chat would probably kill of any contact I might have with them.

Sorry for being the sour grape on this one, but remember, there is always MSN for those who wants to chat rather then make a forum post.

I don't think it's a good idea, but if you really want, you could jump on irc and talk to me. I won't always answer though...

Incidentally, this "suggestion" seems to come up every 6 months or so...

Wish I could see the previous discussion.. titles in thsi section are not very meaningful

I also think it won't work too well... beauty of a forum is people can read what others have said before... with chat you lose all that...

It's been discussed here and I'm sure there are more treads were it's been discussed.

I think it's a cool suggestion. Maybe it should be just a section here so members can chat to each other. That would be fun.
