MNNB started this excellent thread on retailers here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11555
We've also got some retailer sections, as well as several threads on specific retailers.
We've already got links (and feedback) from most retailers (and other TT sites) in our Table Tennis Links, which has been running for years!
I wonder if it's worth expanding on this thread with organised threads on each retailer?

What we could do is create a new forum page with a list of all the online retailers, catagorised by region.

Each store listed can have a link to a dedicated forum thread, which has feedback about the store (we start a new thread if it does not exist). I see this as much more useful compared to anonymous polls or votes, as you never know who wrote it or if the info is legit.

We could also include some basic info on each store, like if they ship worldwide, they accept paypal. etc.
This allows new /members/buyers to read feedback about a store that they're buying from, but also allows them to write feedback with their good or bad experiences.

We could also include one or more ratings on each store (good prices, good service, good advice, etc), although this is always very subjective and could lead to arguments. Lots of positive feedback would have to be given for a store to receive a good rating.

We could also indicate if the store owner is present on the forum to questions or address issues. This would benefit both the store owner as well as the members here.

Benefits that I can see:
Handy reference for existing and new members
Might become an attraction to our forum
Gives happy and unhappy customers a way of expressing their thoughts by posting the facts
Gives retailers an opportunity to refute any untrue claims or benefit from positive feedback
More retailers might become involved in our forum

Potential downside:
Discussions can become heated when there are arguments between members and retailers (or between retailers).

Thoughts?

I think we have had threads that draw on this sort of idea in the past anyway, so this would just "organise" the information more and become a better reference for people trying to buy TT gear online. I think for many of the current forum members, they already have TT dealers they use and trust. So the benefit for well established members here might be minimal. But their knowledge, as always, may be very helpful to new or less frequent members. And who knows, current members may learn a few "new" things too. ;)

Well, I only know and use a few retailers here in the US, talking to some of the friends in our club, there are many other active retailers here, although not as famous as zeropong.com or paddlepalace.com.

It is definitely a good thing to expand on this section.

I'm always happy to know about reliable international dealers, since a lot of rubbers are hard to get in the USA, especially, it seems, the ones I'm interested in using.

I have never really told anyone here but I'm a retailer here in New Zealand, and have my own walk in table tennis shop, website, hire a coach etc etc

I thought this idea was quite good, but I never pursued it as there seemed to be little interest.

I thought I'd bump it one more time, in case most people never read it... I've also added poll.

So what do you think?

I guess there's not enough interest to warrant the effort. Fair enough. ;)

Thanks ebark63! Yes I think ti can be great too, but the lack of interest (judging by the number of votes) has dampened my enthusiams a little!
