Post subject:  Health / injury section?

I wonder if there would be interest in a section that discusses injuries and remedies, as well as health in general as applicable to our sport?

I see the topic of injuries pop up every so often, and it would be nice to have them all in one place.

If there is interest, we could either create a new section, or replace a section that does not really get used.

Any thoughts?

I think it would be a good idea. If I get on wanting to know about tennis elbow, it would be awesome if it were all in one place.

Good idea haggisv. Shoulder injuries and tennis elbow are quite common. Knee and back issues appear to be next. In my club I know of at least 4 people who have shoulder issues. 3 (including myself) have had great success with operations.

Not due to TT but because of the wear & tear of life I've had 2 shoulder reconstructions. |( |( |(
I've had a sore tendon in my right foot & an aggravated left hamstring due to our wonderful sport. :swear: :swear: :swear:
On all of the above I’ve had acupuncture & Chinese massages to help maintain my health.....in all cases the results have been brilliant.
I really recommend acupuncture as a sound maintenance practise for on going flexability and to keep your limbs happy.
My acupuncturist is a Chinese lady who was a doctor in Shanghai and really knows her stuff. :*: :*: :*:

There's been plenty of discussion of these sort of issues here for years, so I'm sure it will have plenty of threads to begin with already.

Yep, great idea!

I think that preventative measures are needed more in this sport them people think and it's much better then treatment. So warming up and stretching are a must. Also cooling down so your muscles don't end up cold, also if you are playing in a cold hall, then keeping warm inbetween games is vital so you dont shock your muscles with intense heat from play and cool them rapidly in the cold venue sitting and waiting.

I've been able to lose some excess weight recently and thats made a HUGE difference to my game, recovery and my general health in general.

I think it's a great idea. I've come to table tennis because I'm too injured to play tennis now. A section on injuries/health would be great.
