With mobile phone, tables, video cameras, etc becoming much cheaper and common these days, it's much easier to record video of yourself playing. Posting this publicly can be highly beneficial, as you can get some great tips from better players and coaches here, on how you can improve your game.
However many of us are reluctant to post this publicly, coz they're camera shy, are afraid people will make fun of them or critise them, or just don't want their video out in public.

I'm thinking of the idea (and it's just an idea I'm posting for discussion here) of creating small private section on this forum, where you can share videos privately. The way it would work, is that I'd create a subsection under the video section for each member that requested it. Only you (and moderators) can see this section. I would also create a member 'group' under your name, and only those that you invite in your group (under your user control panel), will be able to see you section and it's content ('groups' are already a standard feature of the forum software).

I think we'd have to make it clear that this section is ONLY used for discussing your private videos, and we don't want them to turn into little private and exclusive clubs where you discuss things that really should be discussed in the open forum so that everyone can benefit and participate.

What do you think? Would you use it?

I would. Most likely, would share it also with some of the members. Forumers here are generally peaceful and respectful

Reasons I do not share-no idea how to do any video editing and I think sometimes video is hard to understand/read spinn and see how difficult an opponents spin is to handle.

I'd much prefer them to be public, and you'd be more likely to get more feedback and help. However the only reason I'm suggesting private is that I suspect some people will only share videos privately....so for those they could still share, without the worry that it will be all over the net.

If we could get video of them playing each other I think it would out rate the upcoming Oprah-Lance Armstrong interview.

Doesn't look like there's a lot of enthusiasm for the idea... we've got 5 votes so far :( :( :(

Personally, as I share anyway, this wouldn't affect me. However, to upload to the forum, one has to have already uploaded to a big site like DailyMotion or youtube where there are tonnes of people that are potentially viewing so surely they'd be happy to post it here too.

8DTRGinrayz, YouTube has the option to set your videos to either

1. Public - anyone can see them
2. Unlisted - only people who have the link can see them or
3. Private

So it's possible to upload to YouTube and control who sees them. I've uploaded video's to YouTube and posted links to them on this forum so only forum members can see them.

I like the idea in principle of a video section but worry that it becomes a forum within a forum or a "club within a club" which can be devisive.
