I'd it just me or have ads just started showing up on Tapatalk. I recall seeing them often on TT daily but not on Ooak.

Not complaining, everyone needs to make a dollar, just not noticed before... I don't think.

I've always had ads disabled (and I don't make a cent out of Tapatalk).... so unless Tapatalk have made some changes, I don't know, but I'll see if I can find out. Thanks for letting me know.

It seems Tapatalk are getting greedy and have 'upgraded' their model. Before, it was always free to install for forum admins to install on their sites, and only if admins enabled advertising, then Tapatalk would get a cut of the income.
Now they've gone to a membership system, where I would need to pay to keep the site advertising free. If I don't go to their payed membership, they will put in ads, for which they get all the income.
Of course that seems to be standard business practice these days... suck in as many people as you can when it's free and free form advertising, and once you've got the numbers, start charging for the service, and make money from advertising. :swear: :swear: :swear:

Seems to me it's always been that way, beginning with Yahoo Mail. "Free" services always depended on ads for income, otherwise they had NO income. Google is probably the biggest advertising platform out there these days... and I'll bet Facebook isn't far behind (I wouldn't know, I can't log in..)

IMHO, Tapatalk's UI leaves much to be desired. With larger smartphone screens and more competent browser apps like Chrome, I uninstalled Tapatalk a lot a time ago in favor of direct browsing with Chrome.

Yes, it does not seem like the Tapatalk app has a huge takeup... only a small percentage of members here use it.

I'm using tapatalk for several forums and haven't got any issues with ads.

Only forums that implement Tapatalk can be added. Last time I checked their forum software wasn't supported. THis may have changed, but the admin would still need to install it if it was available.

No ads (on my android phone and ipad, both vanilla no root/jailbreak nor use any ads blocker app) and fairly no issues.

One forum I couldn't see their classified section, only showing a tib bit of the description in the post, when clicking to expand, it just brings me up to the front page of the forum.

I couldn't see people's signatures.

That's about it.

For my browsing need, I say no issue.
I like tapatalk because it gives me mobile view, fit in my phone screen without zooming/scrolling left-right. And also the dark theme available.

Look at the first post, the text is very small, second and third post is okay. Not sure why the different size fonts.

There's ads on Chrome after the first post on both android phone and ipad.

No ads whatsoever on my Tapatalk.

By the way, if it's on paying system, I'd rather see some ads instead of the forum has to pay for it. Or if such a small number and having tapatalk is an inconvenient, I'm okay without it as well.

I'm easy that way.
Whatever or however, thank you a lot Haggisv for all the hard work!
