I would rather have a dictator like Haggisv than a bunch of rules like the ITTF.
Then I would have to try and figure out the why of the rules and if they apply to me since I don't play at a world level. Also ,why seniors don't get different rules.
Actually, if there is going to be rules, they should be written by experienced seniors. :D

Hookshot I think this is a good concept. I'm not sure there are many sports where there are different rules written for seniors, but doesn't mean there shouldn't be. In fact, I think there would be a lot to be said to have a SITTF. what age do you think seniors would apply? The same age as Vets at 40?

LOL,
I didn't think you would take this serious Reb.
Calling Haggisv a dictator was because I would trust his judgement in any decision.
However, if you think about a senior devision, it clearly should start at 60. If I could still rock and mountain climb at 40, it's obvious 40 year olds are near their peak and would be unfair to give them any advantage.
Perhaps a handicap system. When you are over 40, you start the game with one point for every 5 years older you are than the opponant.
Should also be something about income. Those of us on a fixed income should get points as we obviously have to sacrifice trying all the different rubbers and blades we would have if we had more money.
Then there is the matter of reduced club fees, subsidys for travel, reduced coaching fees, more time on the tables and no two color rule for seniors.
Now, unlike the ITTF, I can give very good reasons for my rules. (being over 60, I can justify anything) :D :D :D

I was talking about rules Hookshot, not bloody rip-offs and perks for the O60's crowd   Not gonna support you now :P (unless you make it for O40's ) and in any case if I played you I'd need the point system to work in reverse so I would start with at least a 4 point advantage!! You had longer to get used to being old than I have :P

I vote to have just one rule, obey Haggisv. A committee takes too long, a dictator works much faster and absolute.

Just like in my garage, I set the rules. See rule no. 5 in my garage's "rules and regulations" that I placed inside my garage. You can replace Tat with Haggisv.

I like the idea of a dress code, I sometimes post in my dressing gown and it would make me get dressed earlier at the weekend.

Where was this squabble anyway, I missed it. Anyway, ban that Speedplay and Reb, they are both troublemakers.

I see that no clothes required rule. I have an open mind. Must get interesting sometimes. :D

Totally agree...it would be just like two ITTF bans then!

Speedplay like the SpeedGlue ban. A good reason to ban him, but really the nasty substance is fairly harmless.

Reb like the frictionless ban. No real reason as there was nothing wrong with him, but there had to be a balance out on the Speedglue ban! :P :P

Well since we seem to have support for both cases, I feel we should leave it as it is for now... and we'll be one of the very few forums on the internet that is functioning without public rules...
