hi there!

i have the following suggestion: what about sticky threads in the video section of the forum that summarize links/embed videos of a certain player that is related to pimples/antispin?

i started off by collecting solja and akerström videos and posted them in that section. makes it easier to find videos related to a certain player.

That's a good idea.

In general it is a good idea which is already used, but to make them sticky is not working in reality.

There are already summary threads like this. In fact, there are 6 of them on the first page alone. If I make them sticky too and then we add the inevitable summaries for Joo, CWX, Gionis and other interesting pimple players like Gestner etc, we will in no time have 15-20 of them. That means that more than half the page is made up of stickies and any new, unrelated posts end up below them. In my view, excessive stickies makes for clutter that will only grow in size and as it does, will make for less usability of the forum.

Keep the video summaries unstickied, but tag them properly i.e. "Fabian Åkerström, frictionless long pimples". That way we can use the Search function for what it was intended for. It is also quick and easy to see what is in the thread, IMHO.

Yes you do have a good point. A few stickied threads works well, but too many makes things worse...

Can you do a sub-forum inside a sub-forum?

Instead of a bunch of stickies we could put all the player video profiles inside a sub-forum within the "Pimples/Antispin Videos" sub-forum.

Yes we could do that... perhaps a 'copy' instead of 'moving' it would be a better option, or it may make it hard to find?

To have a sub-forum within a sub-forum is going too deep, IMHO. To then have identical threads in two different locations makes it even more confusing.

My suggestion is to tag the threads properly and to create one stickied thread similar to the Equipment Review Index where all video summaries are maintained. That would make things a lot clearer, IMHO.

I don't think one sub-forum within a very specialized sub-forum is overwhelmingly confusing and it would be a more or less automatic, self-working solution. However if you're volunteering to manually maintain a video review index, you have my support.

I agree with brabhamista. We are often told at work not to go beyond a certain number of "layers" within an index otherwise there is no point having the index. Using the subject title correctly would solve the problem but as speedplay has pointed out elsewhere, to expect everyone to do this is unrealistic.

I second mynamenotbob's nomination of brabhamista to maintain a review index!

My God, you lazy bastards. Do I have to do EVERYTHING in this forum, hheheheh
OK, I'll do it. I'll set it up like the equipment index later tonight and then we will see how it works :)

They aren't lazy -- they are, to quote, 'slave drivers'.

Think of it as an on-going project -- specifically for professional players. (match videos) :)
