OOAK Table Tennis Forum

At some stage in the next few months we'll most likely update to a newer version of the forum software. This is good practice as the later version fixes bugs and provides improved security against hackers and spammers.

This will be a good opportunity to think of other features/enhancements that we might like on the upgraded forum, as it's much easier to do this all in one go. The ones we already have in mind are:

1. Upgrade anti-spam features - give our mods and spam-busters a break
2. Change to a new domain - a short and simple domain/url just for this forum

What other features/enhancements would you like to see?

I can't promise all requests can be implimented, but I'll certainly look into them and see if they are viable.

I think that's a great idea!

Hopefully some other sites will be interested to show the RSS as well, but if not it can be quite useful for people with newsreaders, etc...

1. The colour scheme, which I'm not too keen on. I believe it needs to be brighter, if not as white as DTTW.
2. The amount of categories. I think that you could have all the different types of rubbers, as sub-categories in the category of Rubbers.

1. Yes fair enough. I actually like the current theme as I think it looks quite professional, but I'm sure other have other tastes. Perhaps we can work on one or more choices of themes, you you can take you pick?

2. We've had many discussion on this, and opinion vary wildly. Some of the catagories, like long pimples, is actually what put this forum on the map, and it's a major catagory for us, so it deserves a full section. Perhaps some of the other don't, but it will look disorganised if only some are in a sub-catagory and other aren't. Happy tp have further discussion on option though...

Hi Haggis, how about the date of the tread/post somehow linked to the tread (sometimes people dig up a old tread from say 2007 ) which I don't have any problem with, but its not untill you go into it that you find out its a old tread (Im not sure if you understand me lol) but say if someone dug up a old tread that said "new product' or "in the weekend" I might have a look hahaha only to see its an old topic

and does this have a spell check?

For the spell check, I think that computers have spell check already; not the forum. My computer spell checks when I write this, but the computers at school don't.

For the chat, the reasons for and against have been discussed here so far as well:

Since this recent problem with the forum database, I think we need forum page where I can post a notice and update about the forum, so that if the forum is down or is disable during an upgrade/maintenance, I can keep people informed
