is the only difference between the 2, more spin in 802-40?

is 802 more faster/controllable than the 40?

since theres spin in the 802-40, is it almost like an inverted rubber when blocking?

802-40 much faster than 802 and spinnier.802 disrrupter than 802-40.802 better for hitting trow spin and less sensitiver to coming spin.802-40 better for topspin and serves

802 is more of a classic, "scrub the spin off the ball with a block and hit through spinny loops like a hot knife through butter". its great for this.

802-40 is more of a modern, "better than inverted at de-spinning, but still spinny enough to make a good drive"

-40 is spinnier. Given the same sponge I don't think there is any real differecne in speed of the rubber. Using 802 you're more likely to hit flatter more often and get more speed that way. Controllability depends - 802 has more resistance to spin -40 more ability to hit safer shots with more spin when you choose too.

I wouldn't say the 802-40 blocks like inverted but it definitely is in that direction from 802. I like the compromise myself, its one of the main reasons I use -40 and not 802 or inverted.

-40 is more useful away from the table for fishing and even some counter-looping. You can fall into a trap that way. Too much looping and you'd probably be better off with inverted.

Having used both extensively, I feel both have equal amount of spin but in different applications. 802-40 can produce stronger loops and devastating blocks due to its larger pips, but regular 802 wins in spin and accuracy in pushing and chopping by a large margin. For technical players I'd recommend regular 802, and 802-40 for those who love to play hard and fast.

I have found the same thing and I was beginning to think it was the blade! My main blade is the Yong Fan in my sig, but my back up is an old Alpha with regular 802 on the backhand with inverted on the forehand. (my third is an old Sitga all around with inverted FH, and long pips BH Friendship 837 1.0)

I truly thought it was just the blade! Wow!
