I am just starting to get back into TT and am looking to develop a chopping game.

Blade: Butterfly Primo Powerfeeling FL (Offensive)
Rubbers: 802 OX on both sides

Anything wrong with my setup ?

I changed your thread title as "setup?" is not very descriptive of the question you are asking.

As for the question, it would seem to me it maybe a little on the fast side for a SP chopping game. I am no expert in SP, but 802 are fairly fast stiff pips and to have them on an OFF blade, the control may be a little tough for you.

Hopefully now you will get some better answers from the SP experts here though.

Why not try on off- or all + blade? You really intend to chop the whole time?

Choppers tend to like oversize blades that range from def to all+

Some european choppers are using the Petr Korbel Off blade, but they are modern defenders who loop the ball with their forehand.

If you want control buy a blade that gives you control. You don't have to spend a fortune. A few players on this forum have tried the LKT toxic blades. Donic makes good ones for around 40. Giant dragon Kris is under 40 and it has a faster forehand for attacking.

The backhand depends. Short pips can chop well but you have to have good hands. Long Pips are easiest to chop with for me and they can create alot of variation. Some people even chop with slow inverted with thin sponge.

So in short...you can chop with anything but control is the key so slow is generally good.

Yes, I do intend to mostly chop.

Have got Toxic 3 and tried long pips (1ml sponge) on it but didnt feel comfortable, whether it was the blade or rubber, not sure. Also, the issue for me with using Long pips is the cancellation of the backhand, which is my strongest shot. But yes, I am intending on trying a slower blade. Thanks for the advice.

If you are using sponge I assume posting this in the hardbat section was a mistake?

there's no reason why you can't play long pips on the forehand...

Short pip choppers are cool though so stick with it if you are having fun.

No, I am not using sponge, that's why I posted in this section. My setup is essentially a hardbat setup.

Thanks, I would never have considered long pips on the forehand.
