What effect does increasing sponge thickness have on short pips? Until six weeks ago I always played inverted and used max sponge. On Moristo sp they have 2.0 they call super thick, and a 2.2 max. This is a relatively spinny sp, will 2.2 be noticeably more spinny and also more sensitive to incoming spin, or only faster? Which should be better to block with?

More speed and more spin. Theoretically thinner sponge means less surface area for the topsheet to wrap around therefore less sensitive to spin on passive blocks, but you can get used to blocking on thicker sponges with practice :D

The effect of thicker sponge it also depends on whether the sponge is a classic sponge or tensor type. On classis you tend to get mainly more spin and a bit more speed but with tensor sponges speed can be a lot faster as thickness goes up.

I find that with thicker sponge on Short Pips for back hand use I lose feedback from the blade

These are tensor pips, so maybe going from 2.0 to max would make them too fast. I would take more spin, but more speed not so much.
