That's right! I'm mostly waiting opponent's attack. If it comes in my BH, I block with my long pips, the opponent push back and I hit this ball with my FH.
And if he attacks in my FH, I block or I hit the ball.

I received my Degu black 1,8mm today and he is already on my blade for testing this evening in my club.
The feeling is very nice because of the very soft sponge compensating the hard feeling of short pips against backside.
The Degu seems to generate a lot of spin and being less affected to spin than producing it.
The speed seems to be very high and 1,8mm Degu a lot faster than 1,9mm Spin Art.
I think that Degu could be a nice weapon for FH play, spinning the first ball and hitting the second one.
I will test it at the table this evening and compare it to the 1,9mm Spin Art on my second blade.

Hi Peter
Will be interesting to see how you get on with Degu on the FH. I found it a bit too soft for the FH in 2.0mm and probably better suited for the BH although on a Hard blade perhaps with carbon it may work well.

I enjoy my Degu FH play on Yinhe 437. Did not like it on similar but softer Stiga Clipper Wood. I tried 802-40, Waran and Wyvern pips, but I prefer Spinlord Degu so far.

IMO Degu 2.0 is not very spiny nor fast but I like the ball feel and control in short game over other short pips.

I do not think that Degu on FH plays inverted-like as I cannot use inverted loop-drive technique where closed racket creates topspin by itself by sponge penetration. Technique is strictly like traditional SPs.

After one playing session I still do not know how to counter-drive the ball in consistent manner during before match warm-up. I cannot guide the ball during stroke nor catch and shot. Brushing the ball with wrist lifting stroke is possible but tires the wrist muscles. Passive block returns flat ball and is not good for warm-up with an inexperienced against SP player. Surprisingly late ball at falling stage are easier to return in controlled but harmless manner. I cannot serve strong underspin but my services unexpectedly effective and hard to attack (like any other FH SP I tried).

Chopping is remarkably easy and allows spin variations that I cannot feel and control with any other rubber either inverted or pips-out.

I read there's a change in Spinlord pips' sponge. currently I'm using Waran (orange sponge), and pretty much troubled with it. Too hard for my backhand, need a harder swing, and way much more effort against backspin (which is a problem for me during fast rallies. I tend to do small/compact strokes with backhand, and soft bouncy sponge does help a lot in all aspect)

How does Degu compared to Waran in regard of sponge hardness, particularly with 1.8mm sponge?

P.S. : with short pips, I somehow prefer to use 1.8mm - 2.0mm sponge, mostly 1.8mm, and of course it has to be very soft since I prefer the bottom-out feeling when doing drives and smashes (yes, I'm lazy enough for a 30-ish TT hobbyists to do forehand pivots even when the ball is high. Instead, I just whack it with backhand). And sadly, Waran is not soft enough

Hurricane 3 Neo

Still looking for some short pips with the softest sponge available, preferably something with a LOUD speed-glue-effect sound

Whack and Loop for eternity
