I've been playing short pips on my penhold forehand side for the last few months. In my area, I've yet to find a penhold coach, let alone a penhold short pips coach. Do any forum members know of penhold short pips coaches in the US. I'm traveling to the New York City area this summer and wonder if there my be a coach there. I anticipate being in the San Diego area later this fall, and Seattle is only a few hours away. It would be great to work with someone who is accomplished with this set up.

I am sure there are many great SP CPen players / coaches in the US.
Two of the greatest, Li Zhenshi and Zhang Li are in San Francisco. Even one day of coaching by them will benefit you for many years. :)

Maybe, they are in San Jose:

Lily Yip is in New Jersey, one of the best coaches in the US, and a short pips penholder.

Thanks for the tip, Andrew. I emailed Lily Yip's club and am awaiting a response. It's about a ninety minute drive from where I'm staying.

Lily Yip's club turned out to be too far, but I did bump into a Chinese SP penhold coach at the small local East Northport Table Tennis Club on Long Island. I was surprised to see a SP penhold coach, and he was surprised to see a blonde penholder. I had a coaching session with Coach Liu yesterday, and it was great to finally work with a pips out penholder. We went back to basics (grip, relaxing, core, waist and knee bend), worked on FH and BH basics, and did a variety of drills (single skill, footwork, 2 and 3 point drills). With some modifications and relaxation I noticed a lot more power and precision, and the power made the drills faster. The session felt like an hour long sprint filled with so much movement at the table. I hope to go back early next week for one more session before heading back to the West Coast. After experiencing this, I'm not sure about the wisdom of coaching from the SH inverted trainers at home. I may just plan trips to where the short pips penhold coaches are.

Its a shame you cant make to to Lily Yip's club. It is almost 90 min from me too, but I try to make it there every once in awhile for the League. There is some really high quality table tennis that goes on there, lots of tables and lots of players too.

My travels are taking me to Washington D.C. I wonder if anyone knows of some penhold short pips forehand trainers in that area.
