Hey guys!

I use Tibhar Nimbus on my backhand, but I wanted to 'come back' to short pimples. Before tibhar nimbus I used Friendship R.I.T.C 802-40. Now i think it's not as spinny as I would like it to be.
I don't know which one would be the best for me. There are so many rubbers, that I've got a big problem which should I choose. What short (or maybe medium?) pimples do you suggest?
It should be quite offensive rubber, with a good spin and possibility of aggressive blocking.

I've been using Donic Baxster for the last year. Very good for hitting and blocking and can impart spin, but also not too responsive to other spin. I don't recall which version it is, but I might be able to find out. Anyway, from what you describe it could be a good fit.

It's been a week since I started to think about buying pimples and there were such rubbers as flarestorm 2, raystorm, dr neubauer pistol, donic twister LB, victas v0>101, stiga clippa and xiom zava. I only tried donic twister lb for 5 minutes during my training. It has quite a good spin, but that's all what i can say.
I've read that flarestorm 2 is really good, that it is almost like typical, inverted rubber, but with less spin and speed. The easiest way would be for me to test all of these rubbers :D but unfortunately it's impossible and I'm afraid that if i buy one, i will be disappointed.

I think you have three choices. We all struggle with the same issue :)

1) Try and borrow someone else's kit and have a knock to see how you get on.
2) Pick something based on advice and research, and stick with it for a while, on the basis that it'll be fine, and you'll get more out of persevering and working on your technique than changing your kit every week.
3) Set a budget for exploration, and some time to practice, and buy a bunch of rubbers, and experiment until you find them.

(1) has the advantage of being cheap and time-efficient, but you can't get a long enough go to do anything other than get a broad impression.
(2) is boring, but probably the right approach
(3) is fun but costly, and could lead to early onset of equipment junkyism....

HTH!

In our club there are only 5 people who play with pimples. One uses donic twister, another one friendship 802 and these three other guys use long pimples. So I don't have a big choice :)

Setting a budget for exploration would be the best option if I wasn't from Poland. The equipment is really expensive for majority of us :D a rubber which costs for example 40 euros equals our two daily wages. On the contrary in Norway it's like a quarter of their daily wage. But whatever, I have to spend some money for this great sport, because i chose it myself and money can't be an obstacle.

So I have to choose wisely. You recommend me donic baxter? is it medium or short pimple rubber?

and what do you think of stiga clippa, dr neubauer pistol and butterfly flarestorm II?

I don't know that I recommend it in your specific case - I don't have enough experience of expertise. But I've played with it for a year, and it is as you described you wanted.

I can't comment on these, sorry.

There might be better short pips for hitting than 802-40, but I don't think there is a more spinny SP. So, if you are looking for a more spinny, maybe TSP Spin Pips might be more spinny, but maybe not. 802-40 is really considered to be hard to beat in the spin category.

Joola tango and Stiga radical are supposed to be more spinny than 802-40. Butterfly have a spinny one too?.

I have used 802 for over a year, on my backhand for defensive strokes, recieve serves, push, block, chop, chop block. Hits very well with speed even on wooden blades. I also use it to impart spin on serves and I swear it is the spinniest short pips I have tried. And yes it is way more spinny than a Stiga Radical.

I like it a lot because it is very affordable

Ive used both 802-40 and 802. Big difference in spin between those two. 802-40 being much spinnier. Although 802 is better for defence.

finally i bought dr neubauer pistol. I decided to choose it, because dr neubauer is a specialist in pimples. furthermore I've read that these SP are really spinny and are quite deceptive. there was also a nice bargain sale, because usually dr neubauer pistol costs 40 euros and I bought it for 20, so it was profitable. Maybe i'll get flarestorm 2 also. As a present, but no sooner than in 2014. I will test them and if I don't forget, I will try to make a review.

You might want to check the short treatise on pips out rubber in this section, and the Grippy vs Classic pips sticky in this section, Ian.
