I've been using Tuco's vintage DHS pre-made racket with the green foam rubbers taken off and Dragonow/black/2.2 put on the FH side. I play really well with this $20-something set-up, but being an EJ Madman I want to improve my set-up if I can. So, I picked up an Avalox P700-ST and it's time to select a FH rubber.

What else plays like Dragonow and perhaps better?

Maybe something like Friendship 802? It is similar to Dragonow but with a bit more control and a touch more spin and speed, it is also a little bit lighter which may feel better on your forehand when attacking.

If you are looking for a stronger forehand short pips rubber then you really can't go past TSP Spectol, it's a great speedy and spinny attacking rubber!

@Tommy Zai : Sorry a little OOT, but can you give a quick review about Dragonow? What makes you like it?

Thank you

Actually, I'm discovering the reason I like it is . . . it's like a old sheet of inverted . . . 6-month old Mark V. It's easy to play with, but maybe easy for me also means easy for the opponent. Chances are 802-40 is similar, but it's been a couple years since I abandoned that rubber. I think I need to either commit to inverted or LP on sponge for FH. More funk or more spin.

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like it's a good rubber to start with. I'm still considering switching from inverted to SP for my BH.

I agree!! Great rubber transition rubber. I decided to go back to inverted. My opponent was disappointed. He watched me play a couple weeks ago and was looking forward to the darkside challenge. After I lost the match, he suggested I go back to SP on FH. Perhaps I should reconsider Dragonow!
