Hi all! today I tried a little change in my set up...put a new unused Friendship 802 regular sponge (yellow) 2.2 mm on my forehand, where I usually have a Flarestorm II 1.9 mm. The result has been...I cannot play at all! :o I mean, couldn't do anything good! couldn't find the right throw angles, couldn't adjust the power, it was like playing with my left hand! All my drives and smashes in the net or to the stars. :^)
Have I found a crazy 802, or was it something else?
I'm starting to think that might be because of the glue I used, Contra regular glue (VOC). I used that cuz at the moment I had not other and it was just an eperiment, but actually, I'm not used to speed glue, not today nor in the past...is there anybody that could confirm such effect of these kind of glues on rubbers like mine? I have to say that the rubber really was as speedy as my Flarestorm II on my main blade (same blade)...I think it is not natural, Flarestorm II should be much more speedy than 802... More, usually 802 is considerated a very controlled rubber...
Any opinion?
thanks

It is normal that u faced such problem, eg, more unforced errors, ball go to the net. u need to more notice to yr ball curve. First, the sponge of FII is much more better with good control and speed. second, the surface of short pips of FII is much softer. finally, the price is extremely different... :D

Blade: Tsp Black Balsa 3.0
FH: t05 1.9 boosted
BH: 388d ox black
I had a similar experience with 802,coming from Tango Ultra with it`s excellent sponge and grip the 802 did nothing for me and the ball was slipping off it and this was the softer sponge version, must add I`m not a short pips expert but I could play with the Tango easily from the start
