I just removed Yasaka A-1.2 from my Yasaka Sweeper and it splintered the blade. It is minor and I doubt it will affect the playability of the blade, but I have never seen any splintering removing rubber. There are about a dozen tiny splinters on the rubber. I used Butterfly Free Chack to glue the rubber. I have glued a lot of rubbers with Free Chack, both sponged and OX to all of the blades in my signature and removed a lot of them. I did notice that the A-1.2 was stuck down better than I've seen before. It definitely stuck down better than normal OX rubber without the linen backing. I always peal the rubber off diagonally, starting at a corner at the bottom (near handle).

Has anyone seen this, where one rubber and blade will splinter and won't with any other combination. I've probably previously removed 5 or 6 rubbers from the Sweeper without problems. I wonder if the sealing is gone and should have been resealed. Do blades require repeat sealing?

That's strange; I use Yasaka A-1 and it's never splintered a blade. Maybe the water-based glue got past your sealant or lack of sealant and got into the wood.
