Hello everyone,

I've been using Haifu Dolphin for 8 months now on my FH. I'm a penhold player. After I got used to it, I started EJing and looked for another pips rubber. Of course, I started by looking for more disturbing effects rubber. A lot of more advanced players told me this was a bad idea. They were right. After people got used to disturbing shots, they beat me easily and I had less spin capabilities. So I just went back to my Dolphin which is fast and spinny.

Now I'm in another spending spree period and I'm looking for a spinny pip.

Is what I got now, Haifu Dolphin, the best in terms of speed, spin and effect (or good enough) for someone with limited experience in pips and table tennis in general?

Thanks!

haven't tried the dolphin, but have been using pluto (medium pips, some say short pips some say medium). good spin and good disturbing effect.
otherwise you could try double fish 820a (short pips). a coach in our club is using it quite effectively. and cheap too!

If you want to explore alternatives, two SP penholders I know use and are delighted with:

- Stiga Royal
- Victas VO>102

Check Friendship 105 Legend. Good for FH, fast (but probably slower than Dolphin), has some disturbing characteristics. But keep in mind that you can't have both- high spin and disturbance. It's a trade-off.

Dolphin is used even at the pro level, so it certainly won't hold you back. You could always get an inverted setup to try from time to time, getting a feel for what you're playing against never hurts.

Thanks! I just realized that as you say, it's also used at the pro level. I got some untuned versions of Dolphin. I think I'm going to stick with it for awhile at least on my main setup.

Purple.

I've only ever used the tuned ones from Japsko but they are out. I'm getting two from a different company the tuned and untuned version. I'm finding that my older dolphins are easier for me since they seem easier to control, less tuning effect?

What color is the sponge of the bad ones? Are they tuned or untuned?
