I'm wanting to venture the SP world into my forehand.
I'll probably buy a Waran, but I do not know the thickness of the sponge.

What to expect from the rubber behavior having more or less sponge?

What do you recommend for a beginner in sp?

I see your current forehand rubbers are all fast inverted, so relatively thick spinny pips will be easier to adjust too, but you also get less short pip properties.
1.8 - 2 is probably a good range for pips for the forehand. I think max loses you too much control for little benefit.

General rule for sponge, more sponge=more speed. With SP, from what I've heard you probably don't want max, many a little less like 1.8mm.

In short,

Less sponge
Faster on flat hit
Less spin on loop
Less affected by opponent spin when chopping or blocking
Less spinny on chop, assuming no spin incoming ball
More spin reversal
Lighter :P

More sponge
Slower on flat hit
More spin on loop (this is why you can loop drive faster)
More affected by opponent spin when chopping or blocking
More spinny on chop, assuming no spin incoming ball
Less spin reversal
Heavier

Thank you guys.
I'm inclined to try a 1.8.

I'm forehand illiterate, I usually run flat kill on the fore, I do not know how to loop.
