I am currently using Spectol Red 1.8mm on bh. Weighs 30g. I want a short pimple that weighs 40g give or take 1 or 2!

might go up to 2.0mm

Just ordered a Waran 2 but i think it will be too fast. I don't like the balance of the blade without the weight on bh.

Anyone know weights of Hexer Pips uncut or Impartial or Tango Ultra?

Read through all the threads on all the forums and can't find this info, but I know you SP guys are using these SP's!!

Please help a recovering EJ!!

I don't have the uncut weights, but most short pips you mentioned are in the relatively light category. My spinpips red cut to a penhold with finger gap is 35g, Waran is 32g, hexer pips is 37g.

If you want 40+ on short pips, you have to go hard, no way around it. Haifu Dolphin is 42g, 802 on their 42 degree sponge is 40. Maybe Waran 2 would get you what you want, but original Waran is actually very light.

BTW, if you can control spectol red, Waran is much slower.

nittaku moristo

all would fit

spectol red is abnormally light, so pretty much any offensive short pip other than it will be around 38-42 grams cut depending on thickness and glue

Overly light paddles are easily remedied: Add lead tape to the edge under your edge tape. Find this tape at golf/tennis pro shops. Trim with scissors to proper width.

Also, you should be making use of this site's Rubber Mass Database: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1128

Thanks for the info.

At the moment I am trying Waran II, they have a good weight like a normal reversed rubber. They don't seem great on my Stratus Powerwood, but last night tried them briefly on my Infinity and they seem better with the harder outer surface of infinity.
I have an OSP Virtuoso + but think this might be too flexy for the Waran II.
Waran II is a bit of beast though. As it looks like the Hexer Pips are quite heavy, I am tempted to try those too. I like Spectol but the weight is annoying and they bottom out a bit against incoming power.

Maybe try Spectol Blue at 2.1mm? That will add some weight and density.

None of those are too close to spectol. I think spectol is very low grip, short pips wise. Maybe moristo is closest from that list, or impartial XB but both have quite a bit more grip.

I re-weighed the Dolphin. If you like beasty pips, this one is 48g cut! The Haifu penguin might be a good alternative to spectol. As far as I can see, these two are unabashedly copies of spinpips and spectol with harder sponges.

Do they still possess the insensitivity to spin? Would I still be able hit through spin, I would prefer a spinnier grippier SP anyway?
What would you recommend?
