It's been around a week now, and I am getting more comfortable with using the short pimples on the fh.
My power overall has dropped and I don't try punishing every ball that comes it's way, I find my wrists now naturally rolls over after contact with the ball, my back swing on the neutral position starts much shorter. Consistency has improved allot and timing is much better, and now starting to adjust the angle of the bat on incoming spins.

fh to fh, some how it has fair amount of top spin on the ball, I'm not too sure why as I am trying to hit the ball square on, I think maybe the rolling of the wrist might be something to do with and the max thickness of the royal?

yeah, don't roll your wrist. you really should keep the bat pointing forward throughout the swing. Check out the excellent fh action of AA, no roll there

MM: with your SP/LP setup, can you say a few words about the playstyle? I assume that you don't loop on the FH as the SP doesn't provide as much grip as inverted; you hit/smash with the SP ; you block/chop using LP ox. Does that describe the playstyle? What's the advantage of having SP on the FH instead of inverted?

A huge advantage atm, on me using SP/LP is not many people know how too play me, not many people come across a long pip player, let alone someone using it on bothsides :bom:

I think a few friends and team mates don't like me playing this style. I heard from a few people that it is an ugly style to watch, and the beautiful art of table tennis gets thrown out the window. I had a guy last week, half way through a game, totally gave up on me and refused to continue, as he had no idea how to play against a style like me. He was one of the better players in the room at the time. However the SP, does what it suppose to and that is to win points early on before a rally is started.

I can pretty much control the fh just as well as a normal inverted, it's just that I don't open up anymore for a backspin ball, I think what I'm doing now is to come from under the ball and to hit, guiding it on to the table.

I think I am adapting pretty quickly to the new rubber, as I have been playing with cheap premade pip out rubbers at work for quite a long time.

From the sound of it, you still loop on the FH from time to time, but tend to sorta hit underspin balls on the FH yeah? Sounds like a lot of fun at the table!

It is fun learning new things, as doing the same thing all the time gets rather boring like normal inverted , but the whole brain has to be totally pulled apart and re-wired to make the fh suit the bh.

I think drills involving both wings would help me faster into the transition, it just that at Auburn, there aren't to many people keen on training.

I never have this problem. Guys like training against the lps as they can practice their top spin, exercises against the sps for their footwork. But I don't play recreationally in a club - I always train with exercises, and everyone in the room is playing in the leagues, so they need to learn against me
